ART EQ-341 Overview

The EQ341 Dual-Channel 15-Band Graphic Equalizer features 2/3-octave frequency bands and constant-Q circuitry with a 3% center frequency accuracy. The sliders are 20mm center detented with a selectable boost/cut range. The unit provides active balanced and unbalanced input and output connections, variable input level control, clip level indicators, ground lift switch, internal power supply with selectable line voltage switch.

Each channel of the 341 has its own bypass switch with LED indicator, is housed in a rugged, all-steel constructed chassis which occupies 1U rack space, and is intended for installation in standard 19" equipment racks. Multiple input and output configurations are provided for ease of use and incorporate paralleled connections. The XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors use active balanced, low noise circuitry. Both the XLR and 1/4" connectors may be used in an unbalanced configuration. The RCA jacks are unbalanced. The unit is designed to work with a variety of signal levels. The input level control covers a wide range and can easily accommodate -10 and +4 signal levels. A clip LED will light when a signal level of 5dB before clipping occurs.

The 341 may be used in a variety of applications such as live sound, recording studios, instrument racks, as well as any conventional fixed installation environment.

ART EQ-341 Reviews

Does what it's supposed to do perfectly

There are a lot of mixed reviews on here, so I was a bit cautious of purchasing. I only have one, and have only had it a day, so I can't speak to reliability, but it seems solid and well built. I tested this running one channel, high level, from a mixer through this to the power amp, with the other channel running direct. With the levels set to 0 gain, there's no audible difference between the channel run through the EQ and that which was direct. There's also no additional noise between the two channels, which leads me to believe the 94dB S/N ratio is conservative. Band adjustments seems reasonable, and the high/low sensitivity is nice. I didn't check for power on pops, but there aren't any pops or clicks when going to bypass, although it is audible. The only negative I found is that the outputs seem to clip a bit before the lights go on. To do that requires a hot input source, and turning up the channel gain quite a bit. It seems to have a lot of headroom, so this isn't too much of an issue. This is a simple analog unit, and anyone doing serious EQ for live sound, recording, etc., is going to go digital, but if you LIKE simple analog EQs, this would be hard to beat.

Old man hearing's disappearing!

The hearing is going, so I rigged it up with a headphone amp with headphones to watch (and now I can hear!) TV. Never had a pro EQ before, but for my purpose this is an A1 buy.

Can this device be used with line-level inputs (I think that's the correct term), like from a CD player? Thanks
Asked by: John
Yes, this equilizer allows for balanced XLR line level or unbalanced RCA stereo line level inputs. A CD player would connect throught the RCA inputs.

The input control is listed as input level, not a mute. It may still pass low level signal, even all the way down.

The rotary controls on the ART EQ341 are input level controls to adjust the signal level of the audio going into the EQ341. These controls are not output volume level controls.

Do the rack mount plates come off?
Asked by: Anonymous
No it doesn't come off. They are a continuous part of the front plate and not separate.
