Specialized super macro lens is designed for working with close-up subjects and provides a maximum magnification of 4.5x and a minimum magnification of 4.0x.
Minimum working distance (distance from front of lens to subject) is 0.8"; the lens does not offer infinity focus.
Manual focus control for fine-tuning focus position and a manually adjustable aperture ranges from f/2 to f/16 for adjusting exposure and depth of field.
Six elements in four groups optical design provides consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination.

    Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2.0 reviews

20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro Lens for Canon EF is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A specialty lens, exceeded my expectations This lens is only for extreme (4-4.5X) macro shots. I'll attach a downsized image taken of a penny at 4.5X, f/4, ISO 800, with a Canon 5D Mark III. I'm impressed with the sharpness at this price. I intend to use this for creative photography, geology (rock samples), insects, jewelry, etc. I'm very pleased with these first test shots. Of course, even at f/16, the depth of field would be very shallow, and focusing with this lens should always be accomplished with a focusing rail. Aside from those caveats, it's a nice addition to my collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lens with a very specific purpose When you want to magnify much more than a standard macro, this lens works very well. But at 4-4.5x, you will need a very stable setup as just shifting your weight on the floor can cause the tripod to move enough to lose focus. I use it on a FF Sony A99, and the images are sharp and well corrected across the whole frame. However, you have to get the whole subject plane perpendicular to the optic axis to keep the whole frame sharp. Because you are quite close to the subject, lighting is tricky, but getting an off-camera flash off to the side and elevated a little bit will do the trick. Also, using small lights on goosenecks works very well too--perhaps better than the flash solution since you have more control and can get the light closer and angled higher on the subject. The focus plane will be razor thin and stacking is very helpful for subjects that are not on a flat plane.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the price. This is a well built lens with decent optics. Small and light it is easy to use. Minimum and maximum focus distance is about the same. Getting enough light for an exposure is doable but getting light for focusing is a challenge. I would not recommend this lens over a traditional 1:1 macro lens because its use is limited to very tiny objects but its good to fool around with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely surpassed my expectations - Great value! Ignore the complainers... This lens surpassed my expectations and is great value for the price. Macro photography is inherently more difficult and this, being a 4-4.5x magnification lens, is certainly not for the faint of heart. THE GOOD - Great price for this type of specialty lens. - The build quality is surprisingly good; thelens is quite hefty for the size and the focus and aperture rings are nice and tight. - Sharpness and image qualityis excellent. Obviouslyin mostcircumstances you'll have to close it down to its minimum of f/16 to get workable depth of field (it will still be a challenge, but if you're having issues, the problem is on your side of the camera: you can't blame the lens for that) THE BAD - The 3-bladed aperture makes a rather unpleasant triangular bokeh. - The lens cap is cheap and very small... Extremely easy to lose: be forewarned! - I wish you could set the aperture smaller (eg.: f/22 or f/32). - No electronic contacts with the camera, so you don't get lens metadata. - Comes with an instruction manual with VERY POOR ENGLISH. But really the manual isn't very useful so I didn't care... It gave me a few laughs!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive I was able to get sharp photos at extreme magnifications. I have not used the Canon 65mm, so I can't compare. I was also interested in the new Laowa recently announced, but it is not out yet. Build quality is fine. Due to the quality of this lens, I don't intend to test the others.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's close r to a microscope than a macro lens. I love to take picture of flowers and I was hoping that this lens would help me get better pictures. It did not. I bear much of the blame since I didn't read the specs carefully enough. The magnification is such that I can't even get a whole tiny flower into the frame. The focus range is less than an inch and is too close to the subject for most situations. I expected that a lens made for macros would let in more light, but it is like a microscope in that you need to shine an extra bright light on the subject to even be able to focus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FUN!! i love this lens! i didnt at first cos i just could not focus it, but now ive practiced, its just wow! its just fun. i dont expect razor sharp images, as i use it hand held, but im more than happy with what it produces.
