    Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2.0 reviews

    20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro Lens for Pentax K is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Know what it is before you buy it I picked up this lens expecting it to work like my other macro lenses. I didn't do my research and understand what this lens really is before I bought it, and that's on me. This lens is an extreme macro lens. There is no focusing ring, you focus it by moving the camera. To achieve focus you need to be 0.8 (20mm) from the subject. While there is an aperture ring, even with it stopped all the way down, the area in focus is crazy thin. Because of that, using a tripod is a near necessity. Due to the size of the front element, you'll need a lot of light on the subject which in some instances will be a challenge due to how close you have to be to achieve focus. One more quick note, there is no aperture actuator like you'll see on other K-Mount lenses. It is possible to get some good images with this lens, but be aware that it's a different kind of animal than you may be not used to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nothing like this for the price! Ok so I should caution people that when they buy this lens they are buying, essentially, a microscope for their camera. It's amazing and it's so much fun, but you can ONLY take extremely magnified photos with it. If that's what you want, you'll love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice lens with lots of limitations This lens is a lot of fun, if you can live with it's limitations. First of all it is quite difficult to use; do not think you are getting a typical macro lens. The magnification is 4-4.5X. You pretty much have to use this lens on a focusing rail/macro slider and you will need some form of macro lights. I picked a pair of inexpensive LEDs on telescope arms. Since this lens works like a microscope objective you have to know that's what you are dealing with. Ergo if you want to photograph something that is say 0.5 cm/ 0.25 inches you are fine, think of a grain of rice. Anything else you will only get a small part of the subject with razor thin depth of view. The lens f stop ranges from f2 to 16; I typically use it at f16. I have used it in the field, but it is tough. I use it more in my study to photograph very small seashells. Because you have to get so close it isn't likely one will have much luck with a moving active subject. Still, if you can live with it's limitations, it's a lot of fun. This lens will complement, not replace, a typical macro lens.
