    Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2.0 reviews

    20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro Lens for Sony E is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not without flaws Pros: super clear optics and great magnification is amazing. You can focus very close and get great details. Cons: The bayonet mount on the lens I got is silver and very shiny, on the INSIDE of the barrel, causing horrible internal reflections on the left and right of the image. This could be easily fixed if the manufacturer made the mounting flange black or matte finished, and in the pictures it looks black. Beware for Sony e mount it is silver and ruins the edges of your shots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive, well built MF 4x macro, but kinda awful bokeh I've been quite impressed at the images you can coax out of this lens, however my only complaint is the pretty awful three-bladed aperture, which gives an ugly triangle shaped bokeh in the OOF areas of your photos. With focus stacking, you can achieve some rather remarkable images imho, although shooting at 4-4.5x magnification requires a very steady working area & a ton of light for good results. The lens is solid metal with nice knurling on the rings, and a very smooth throw. The inside of my lens is covered in a black velvet, no shiny metal showing. All said & done, at $150-200 this is probably the cheapest & easiest way to step into ultra-macro photography & I've got no regrets with my purchase. If you've got more budget to work with, look into the Venus Laowa 2.5x-5x ultra-macro.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unusual item but does what it says if you only need macro I've seen a few people asking the focus range of this lens. There is no focus range. The focus is at approx 18mm in front of the end of the lens. The zoom/focus wheel only moves the front of the lens and you again need to position it at approx 18mm from the object to get any focus. This is not the sort of macro lens you can use for general landscape or portrait shooting and then also use as a macro. It only does macro at 18mm focus. I'd also suggest the camera should also be on a tripod as the field of view is very narrow or else you would need very steady hands. The frame is approx 8mm wide x 5.5mm high in 4.5x lens zoom on A7S2 in full frame (approx 9mm wide x 7mm high on 4x zoom); and approx 5.5mm wide x 3.5mm high on 4.5x zoom mode in 4:3 APSC on an A6000 (approx 6mm wide x 4mm high on 4x zoom). These were very roughly measured by taking a photo of a ruler. For me the easiest way to describe it is the full frame field of view is roughly the size of my fingernail on my little pinkie finger. It also needs a lot of light due to the narrow field of view. I think it would be extremely difficult to get a hand held shot of any thing moving, for e.g. a live insect, and you would nearly need to cook your insect with light to get a good picture. An on camera flash is shadowed by the lens. But if you have used macro before you will probably already be aware of lighting and keeping things steady. It is a strange shape and I nearly put it on back to front the first time I used it - doh! There is nothing really wrong with this lens, but coming from a Sony 1:1 f/2.8 90mm it was a little disappointing, but only a fraction of the price. This lens will probably end up similar to my 800mm f/8 catadioptric mirror lens in that it is a little different and will have special uses, but it won't be used every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great macro lens for the price! It takes a little bit of practice to get use to this fully manual lens and how close it has to be to your subject. I recommend getting a tripod attachment that allows you to move the entire camera forwards or backwards by centimeters, because the depth of field is literally that shallow. The image quality when attached to either my A6300 or A7s2 has been fine. Just be sure to check that this lens is available when you order it, because I waited for about a month on back order myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens This lens is amazing, the one people to keep in mind is that is a manual focus. You definitely a great tripod to this to minmkze shake. The images I have taken so far give you a feel of going to another world as the amount amplification really takes you in. You will need good lighting and a some sort of trigger, so make sure you are prepared before buying this lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic 'gadget' for the price I was surprised when I first tried it as I should have trusted the SUPER MACRO description a bit more. Indeed, this lens needs very subtle and precise use since the focus cannot be adjusted and it is indeed a SUPER macro, but it opens up many creative possibilities or just the ability to photograph tiny things. When I ordered it I thought 'at this price, I cannot really go wrong' and indeed I do not regret my purchase, even though I might not use it very often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works like a microscope lens basically this lens let you photo things like tiny bug, works like a microscope lens, and the image quality is super. I am satisfied with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should just call it a microscope attachment This lens is built like a tank, and the quality is easily apparent. It does take more than just a steady hand to use properly. If you get this lens you won't regret it but just make sure you have the right equipment to do super macros
