Designed for live sound applications, the American DJ DB DISPLAY MKII is a rackmount solution for monitoring your signal levels on stages, in clubs, at church, or in a mobile—yet entertaining—environment. I need to use a dB meter while attached to something like a selfie stick. Can I turn it on, and the hold the unit about 4 feet away from me and still have it get a reading, without constantly pressing down on a button?
This unit would not be appropriate for your requirements, because it is made to go into a rack with a sound system, and runs off of AC power. I would consider a portable dB meter, such as the Galaxy Audio CM-130 CHECK MATE - Battery Operated SPL Meter, BH #GACM130.

The DB Display MKII has RCA inputs and outputs, as well as XLR inputs and outputs. The RCA connections will most likely be the easiest to use for connecting it with your receiver.
