TASCAM SS-CDR250N Reviews

Great Machine

Rated 5 out of 5

Great machine in a low profile format. All types of analog and digital inputs and you're set to go with default settings. Only negatives...display is small and VU meters pretty bad for a recorder. Unit meant for rack mounting...when stacking, there's no clearance for air...feet are too small.

Is it possible to record to CD and redundant SD cards at the same time?
Asked by: Brian
Unfortunately No. You cannot record to CD-R & SD card simultaneously. BACKUP option can only record to USB or second SD card while recording to first SD card (or visa versa). When CD is selected as recording media, BACKUP option is not available. Too bad 'cause that's what I bought the machine hoping to be able to do.

Can this record from a source in from an amp? Also, can you just play a CD.
Asked by: Donald
The input source connection to the Tascam SS-CDR250N Two-Channel Networking CD and Media Recorder could accept a non-powered signal from an amplifier's signal output. The SS-CDR250N is capable of playing back commercial audio and data CDs in a variety of formats.

To be sure, this can record from cd to sd card, sd card to sd card, and SD card to cd?
Asked by: Donald
You can record to SD card and then burn audio (and finalize) to a CD-R disc. IFAIK, you can't record from one SD card to another, but you can record to both SD cards simultaneously or record to SD card and USB simultaneously (using BACKUP function)

Is CD recording is the same as burning a CD?

Is CD recording is the same as burning a CD?
Asked by: Donald
In a traditional sense, burning a CD refers to the process of transferring file information stored on a drive onto a CD disk. CD recording, as a function of the Tascam SS-CDR250N Two-Channel Networking CD and Media Recorder, refers to writing information to a CD from an external input source connected to the Tascam.
