LensCoat Max4 Camo Leg wraps.

I have LensCoat leg wraps on all my Gitzo tripods. They do take a bit of time to put on properly with the seam lined up straight & tight. and facing inward. They do pad your shoulder's if you carry your tripod setup over your shoulder's. They also keep the upper leg sections protected from bumps & ding's. They certainly are expensive for what they are! They may even be the most OVERPRICED piece of photography equipment on the market for what you get for your money! But, for what you pay for a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod: In this case: an Ocean Series 5 Systematic tripod. That little extra protection gives me some peace of mind on preventing minor damage. Their are cheap-o foam pads available that serve the same purpose. But they look terrible, & really don't work as well, or hold up as well as these LensCoat leg wraps do. So, in the end; only you can determine if the outrageous cost for these leg wraps are worth it? (Gitzo makes nice, well made leg wraps too. But they are just as expensive! And the Gitzo's come in only one rather short length! At least LensCoat makes an attempt to cover as much of the upper leg section's length as each tripod model dictates.)

Too Short For GT5542LS

This was a B&H recommended accessory when I purchased my Gitzo GT5542LS. I found that it was too short to cover the full length of the upper tripod legs. Consequently I returned them and ordered the LegCoat 514's. At over 14 inches, these are almost to long but a better fit for my new tripod. The manufacture should consider a 12 to 13 wrap for the 5 series Gitzo's. That would be a better fit yet. They should also tapering the wrap so that it covers the top and bottom Velcro better. When I applied the 514 wraps to the GT 5542LS they would not close the Velcro completely in these areas. However, they do cushion my shoulder well when carrying my rig over my shoulder and insulates the tripod legs at the hand hold locations when it's cold. That said, I also think they are a bit expensive for what you get.

Better than the old style I used with insulating pipe foam. Only wished they were longer in length!

Asked by: ishtiyaq s.
I purchased the LensCoatLegCoatWraps. When they arrived I realized they were for a larger diameter tripod leg so I'm exchanging them for the smaller size. Thus - no experience yet other than to pay better attention to ordering details!
