Rycote 39701 Overview

The black, 19/20mm Baseball Felt-Covered Windscreen from Rycote is designed to fit over a shotgun or similarly shaped microphone and greatly reduce unwanted 'swooshes' during fast swings and other rapid boom-pole movements. It is lightweight and offers increased performance over conventional foam windscreens.

The Baseball is built with open-cell foam and covered in a felt material. It can be used for fast/deep booming and plosive reduction. Additionally, it helps to protect your mic.

Works great on a DPA 4018

Bought this to work with my DPA 4018. Fits nicely and offers great protection from wind blasts that might occur on close-up work with talent in smaller spaces. I typically would not use this mic outdoors, but would change the capsule to the 4017, but i did also purchase the hairball to cover this, just in case i needed it for the future, or...heaven forbid...a director insists on a fan running during a take...

This one is too tight to fit an Audix SCX1-HC mic - but otherwise great

At half the cost of the Softie for a Schoeps CMC6, and still cheaper than the Schoeps foam ball, this is a decent alternative. Some people don't like it. . . but i think as long as you keep the felt clean and dont crush it. you will have a good light wind and swoosh solution. Listen to how they tell you in the instructions to apply and remove.
