Designed for electronics in your home or office, such as computers and related equipment, network devices (modem/router), POS devices, CCTV circuits, televisions, video game consoles, and more, the Battery Back-UPS Pro BX850M from APC helps protect against surges, spikes, lightning, and outages. In the case of a power outage, it can provide up to 2 minutes of runtime at max load, 8.9 minutes at half load, and 167 minutes at 10W. It also provides an output capacity of 850 VA / 510W, eight total NEMA5-15R outlets (four battery backup & surge and four surge-only), an input voltage of 120 VAC at 60 Hz ± 3 Hz using its 6' cord with a NEMA5-15 plug, a surge energy rating of 1103 joules, and 1Gb of dataline protection. Its sealed, lead-acid battery is maintenance-free and can be replaced using an RBC17 replacement battery. The BX850M outputs 98 to 139 VAC at 60 Hz ± 1 Hz (on utility) and 115 VAC ± 8% at 60 Hz ± 1 Hz (on battery).

For areas with inconsistent power grids, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) helps provide stability against voltage fluctuations, overvoltages, and brownouts. This UPS has an integrated LCD display that shows information on the utility and system status, and PowerChute Personal Edition software can help track power quality, configure alarms, and shut down your computer during an outage.

When compared to the previous generation of APC's Back-UPS systems, this model features a more compact design with a smaller footprint, surge protection improvements, and improved 1Gb dataline protection. Also featured is a limited lifetime data-recovery warranty and a limited 3-year warranty for the APC unit.

    Battery Back-UPS Pro BX850M is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product - works as intended I previously had owned the APC RS700 Back-UPS and the product has served me well over the last few years. The new APC Pro BX850M Back-UPS came with complete and much clearer and understandable insturctions for installation and operation than my previous product. Installation and setup was quick and easy and I was up and running again in less than 15 minutes. This unit is the newest of several APC UPS products that I've owned and used without any issues over the many years of computing and I would recommend this brand and product to anyone [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great UPS for a PC and Peripherals This unit replaced an APC Back-UPS RS, which is a fine enough unit but this one is even better! I especially love the LED display that tells me so much more info about the status of the system, including the connected load. I can now easily see which connected components are creating the load. I also like that surge protection for co-ax has been added, so I can protect my cable modem connection. I was disappointed to find that surge protection for a phone line has been dropped -- some places we deal with still ask that we communicate by fax! I've not used it long enough to test the surge protection and battery backup capabilities, but I've been using APC power protection products, including various generations of UPS's, for over 20 years and have confidence this one will perform as well on that score as it's older cousins always have. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent battery back up This APC battery backup is an excellent way to back up computers and electronics in a home, home office or at work. It is a vertical form factor, so takes up less space and shows the amount of time in minutes the UPS will provide power. Excellent product and I highly recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great home/small business PC UPS I am a long-time APC UPS user and was eager to look at this model because the UPS's I've had have served me well through occasional outages. An obvious feature is to be big enough to give reasonable time to save your work. The BX850M can handle laptops to towers outside of high-end gaming boxes. The unit also has all the features that one would expect of a UPS in 2018 such as an LCD display. One notable feature is the data recovery warranty. I would not use this unit for servers, specialized equipment where the sinewave approximation might be a problem nor in areas where there are frequent lightning storms or chronic brown-outs. APC offers other products for special devices and situations. One minor glitch in setting up the unit was some obsolete information in the manual that did not correspond to the current web site. But that did not really affect my rating which was "good" by comparison to higher-end products. I would have rated this UPS as 4.5 if I could have. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick, easy, great! Received a shiny new BX850 UPS recently. I'm using it to protect a small home office server with critical personal and small business data on it. SInce I live in an isolated area of the high desert, power fluctuations, sags, and outages are common, especially when the wind starts blowing hard. This UPS has already saved my system a couple times. The downloadable software makes it easy to interface and protect the server from prolonged outages. I also like the fact that I can determine how much power the system is consuming. The Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) is a very nice feature. My input power varies quite a bit, but the server sees nice steady voltage and the clear, well-illuminated LCD display.lets me know just what is going on. Overall a great product, and it came packed in recyclable cardboard. The package had been banged around enough to partially crush a corner of the box during shipping, but the UPS was in perfect shape. The included setup guide was both comprehensive and very readable. Some other manufacturer hardware documents I've received have been printed in very tiny, low contrast type, and were hard to read. This UPS arrived with readable documents--very refreshing! In addition to my home use, I am a practicing computer security professional and system designer, and I use UPS systems to protect a major IT Datacenter andlarge network where I work--also out here in the High Desert areas of Southern California.
