APC BX1500M overview

  • 1Description

Designed for electronics in your home or office, such as computers and related equipment, network devices (modem/router), POS devices, CCTV circuits, televisions, video game consoles, and more, the Battery Back-UPS Pro BX1500M from APC helps protect against surges, spikes, lightning, and outages. In the case of a power outage, it can provide up to 2.5 minutes of runtime at max load, 10.9 minutes at half load, and 440 minutes at 10W. It also provides an output capacity of 1500 VA / 900W, ten total NEMA5-15R outlets (five battery backup & surge and five surge-only), an input voltage of 120 VAC at 60 Hz ± 3 Hz using its 6' cord with a NEMA5-15 plug, a surge energy rating of 789 joules, and 1Gb of dataline protection. Its sealed, lead-acid battery is maintenance-free and can be replaced using an APCRBC124 replacement battery. The BX1500M outputs 98 to 139 VAC at 60 Hz ± 1 Hz (on utility) and 115 VAC ± 8% at 60 Hz ± 1 Hz (on battery).

For areas for inconsistent power grids, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) helps provide stability against voltage fluctuations, overvoltages, and brownouts. This UPS has an integrated LCD display that shows information on the utility and system status, and PowerChute Personal Edition software can help track power quality, configure alarms, and shutdown your computer during an outage.

When compared to the previous generation of APC's Back-UPS systems, this model features a more compact design with a smaller footprint, surge protection improvements, and improved 1Gb dataline protection. Also featured is a limited lifetime data-recovery warranty and a limited 3-year warranty for the APC unit.

    APC BX1500M reviews

    Battery Back-UPS Pro BX1500M is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product quickly shipped To me, the experience is not just about the UPS. APC makes a quality product and I have been buying them for a long time. Some of the ones I am currently using were purchased back in 2005 and with regular maintenance (changing the batteries) they are still working great. I can't say enough good things about APC. If you don't overload their UPS systems, they work as advertised and they even replaced power strips for me that were damaged by lighting surge during a storm. B&H makes buying equipment quick and easy because their shipping is fast and often even free. They have been a great company to work with over the years. Thank you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Arrived inoperative, still doesn't work. Despite the impressive test report taped to the unit, it would not run on battery power for more than five seconds. Called APC and they listened to the beeps over the phone, said the battery was bad, and sent me a new battery, complete with test report. Still doesn't work with the new battery. This is without load or with a light load applied. Utility power was applied for hours to charge both batteries. As a former engineer, I know what I am doing and measured the voltage into and out of the unit. APC has worked well for me on prior units. This time I made a mistake ordering this model mail-order. Shipping costs make it pretty futile to return. I went to the local big-box store, and purchased a Cyberpower. It works great, no sophisticated controls or displays and no test report - but it works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AV protection I am testing this APC Back UPS Pro BX1500M on home A V equipment, consisting of a 58" Plasma TV, 100 watt per channel 7.1 receiver, blue ray player and dvd recorder, Really like the battery install, no longer have to worry about wire routing, just flip the battery over and install, then replace the battery compartment cover. one of he batter compartment cover "s latches was mis-moulded and didn't fit properly.. The setup was simple and connecting the Av devices was easy. Like the coaxial ports location. The display is nice and clear and gives you the readoust that are important. Didn't have any power surges from storms or powerloss yet, but have heard the unit switch over to battery a few times I believe due to low voltage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A tower not a brick I like the form factor (tower not a brick) and convenient display, and I'm able to make it work. For us simpletons, it works out-of-the-box: plug it in, turn it on, and it goes. I live in a place where the power cuts out frequently, and this carries me over those. It powers a couple of PCs, 3 monitors, modem/router/switches, and some other stuff for maybe 30 minutes. There are several model variations of this, that the difference escapes me, all the B?1500? more or less. Even though a previous one flaked out on me, I replaced it with this one. The previous one's battery alarm kept going off randomly, even though I replaced the battery and it even ran off the battery. So since I'd already replaced the battery, I replaced the unit. And it was only a few years old. Sill, I love it and am glad to have its descendant by my desk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SWEET This device, an APC Back-UPS Pro model BX1500M, is a great UPS. It does what it is supposed to do, and does so with little fuss or bother (overall). While it is a bit physically larger than many similar capacity (1500VA) UPSes, it is a slim case design that works well under your desk, or on your bookshelf. I have experienced absolutely no operational issues with the UPS over the past couple of weeks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Back UPS Pro BX1500M A solid UPS with just a few minor issues. The UPS arrived and was packed very well. When I took it out it was heavier than I thought it would be. It feels like a high quality, well built unit. Installing the battery was easy thanks to the instructions on the UPS. Then came the software they want you to install although not needed to run the UPS). This is where it was a bit odd. The first oddity was the cable. It was a USB to serial data port connection...why?? Why not update the connection on the UPS so it can go USB to USB (just saying). The other thing was the Power Chute software. It is not directly compatible with Windows 10?!?! It asks you to install Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 SP2 that came out in 2005. I e-mailed APC support and they told me “a lot of older programs won’t install or run correctly because they require previous versions of .NET Framework.“. Older programs?!?! This is a NEW UPS. So, not wanting to mess up my wife’s PC and sleep on the couch I chose not to install it. I then connected my equipment (4K TV, sound bar, subwoofer, gaming system, router and a couple of other pieces) and fired it up. The display is bright and the unit is very quiet. If not for the dimly lit control button I would not know it’s on. I have been running this unit for a good week with no issues whatsoever. There are 2 suggestions I would make to improve the tower: 1. Move the battery compartment closer to the front so it is easier to access 2. While I love having the 10 outlets in the back I wish they were spaced a little wider to accommodate larger wall worts. In sum, this is an excellent UPS system and I feel confident that my connected equipment will be well protected. If APC makes a few minor tweaks this UPS can be exceptional. Rated 5 out of 5 by from LCD Screen is great I've owned a couple different UPS units over the years and decided to try this version with the LCD Screen. After using it for a while I decided I really liked this feature, it shows you how the power is performing your home and what the expected battery time would be if the power went out. Overall happy with it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, it's been great! I've only had this UPS unit for about 3 weeks, but it has worked flawlessly. I had 2 short, minor power outages. This unit kicked in automatically and kept my PC, router, and modem running without a hiccup. I can't say how long the battery will last since I've only had it a short period of time, but so far I would recommend this to anyone.
