question

What is the AC power specification? Can it operate on European 220-240 VAC supply?
Asked by: Gautam
The power supply is universal and can work on 220-240. The plug is USA so you need this type of adapter: Watson Adapter Plug - 2-Prong USA to 2-Prong Europe B&H # WAAPUSAE.

How even is the light across the surface. Has anyone done a spot meter reading at various points of the surface?
Asked by: Greg
The light is quite even across the whole surface and shouldn't result in unusable variations in lighting.

At F8 and 100 ISO to expose for the light you would have to be at 1/4 second , when you put a slide in front depending on the slide you would be at 1/2 to 1 second exposure

Is this a glass surface?
Asked by: Greg
I want to add that the top surface looked slightly scratched when I took the new product out of the box. It took me a while to realize that there is a thin protective film that covers the very smooth opaque plastic surface. From reading reviews of the products, it seems that some people might have missed the presence of this plastic film and didn't remove it.

How long will the light stay illuminated at max brightness on battery power?
Asked by: Danny
I have always used the light box with the AC adapter/charger (included) plugged in. However the instructions suggest that “depending on the charge of the battery, charging may last up to six hours “. I had not used it for about two months and without being used, the charge held. The adapter comes with a USB cable to micro plug cable which can be used with a 5V output source like a computer, notebook or a power bank.

Would I be able digitize my slides using an iPhone or would a dslr be needed ?
Asked by: Albert
Good results really require a DSLR and a good macro lens. There are two basic reasons: 1) The need for close, precise focus and 2) an ability to reduce the contrast. To preserve shadow detail in most 35mm slides the camera needs a low contrast mode. Nikon has a neutral picture control setting (The D850 an even lower flat setting) that approximate the results obtained with a slide scanner. Having said that, this light box is a great uniform light source for both slides and color negatives.
