Fujifilm 600018567 overview

  • 1Description

Presenting a super wide field of view, the GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR from Fujifilm is an ultra-wide 18mm-equivalent prime designed for the G-mount GFX camera system. Ideally suited for architecture and interior photography, the lens's design employs a pair of aspherical elements to control distortion and spherical aberrations for accurate rendering, and a series of low dispersion elements are also featured for improved color accuracy and clarity. Additionally, a Nano GI coating has been applied to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color. Balancing the optical attributes, the lens also utilizes a linear AF motor with an internal focusing design for quick and quiet focusing performance, and a manual aperture ring also avails intuitive exposure adjustment and a Command position permits making camera-based aperture selections. Additionally, the lens is also dust-, freeze-, and weather-resistant for use in trying environmental conditions.

Ideally suited for architectural, landscape, and interior photography, this wide-angle prime lens offers an 18mm equivalent focal length.
The 15 elements in 12 groups optical design incorporates a pair of aspherical elements to reduce spherical aberrations and distortions for cleaner, more realistic rendering and sharper image quality.
Two extra-low dispersion elements and one Super ED element are also featured to control color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved color fidelity and clarity.
A Nano GI coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.
A linear AF motor is used for quick, quiet focusing performance and an internal focusing mechanism maintains the overall length of the lens during operation and also produces consistent optical performance throughout the focusing range.
Physical aperture ring allows for intuitive adjustment over exposure settings, and incorporates a C (Command) position to permit camera-based aperture setting.
Dust- and weather-sealed physical construction enables working in harsh climates and temperatures as low as 14°F.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

    Fujifilm 600018567 reviews

GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR Lens is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best medium format wide angle lens The image and build quality of the GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR Lens is superb. The amount of details is stunning. DOF is outstanding - it is very sharp from 1.5m to infinity at f16, and from 1m to infinity at f22. Highly recommend to landscape photographers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A competent performer I do like this lens, and it complements the 32-64mm f/4 and 110mm f/2 quite nicely. Build quality seems to be equivalent to the 110mm f/2, i.e., very good. Size and weight is reasonable, and I would rate overall image quality worthy of the asking price. Distortion is very well controlled, contrast and resolution are both impressive from f/4 and resolution peaks somewhere between f/8 – f/11 (although I often find myself using smaller apertures for depth of field reasons). Flare resistance is generally quite good provided you stick to reasonable apertures, although if you want extreme flare, you can have it by stopping down to f/32 and experimenting with the sun's location in the frame. On a related note, I'm not in love with the sunstars coming from the 23mm - not that they are bad, but I prefer the aesthetic of the sunstars from the 32-64mm f/4. I have attempted astrophotography with this lens, correction of comatic aberration at f/4 is good but not perfect in the extreme corners, although I'm not sure it really matters much - that f/4 maximum aperture combined with the high resolution of the GFX's sensor makes this lens/body combination less than ideal for astro. As for more traditional landscape photography, the lens does not disappoint - vignetting is minimal when stopped down, the corners are sharp, I don't see any sign of chromatic aberration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another home run from Fujifilm This is a beautiful lens in every way. It is sharp, perfectly contrasty, appears to be flare-proof and is built with a quality that rivals the best of my old Zeiss and Sekor primes. I am impressed at how Fujifilm has vaulted itself to the top of the lens maker heap in a short period of time. The image quality is simply other-worldly with the GFX50S and this lens paired together. I frequently tell people that if they are doing video, sports or wildlife photography - then the GFX system will not make any sense to them. But if you shoot portraits, architecture, landscapes or product photography then you will not find a better system available today. If you focus on architecture or landscapes in particular then this lens belongs in your kit.
