How long does it take to charge one battery? If four batteries are being charged, does it charge all simultaneously?
Asked by: Qi Kit
It charges one at a time, but you can check the progress with the click of a button. Not sure how long it takes but it is so nice to load this up and let the batteries charge overnight and know I will have all the batteries I need. Also great to check how much charge is on a battery quickly.

question

I'm trying to find the w-z adapter battery part? I use atomos power station w/ sony L batteries and a7 dummy battery. I'd love to be able to use that setup on the a9 as well.
Asked by: Chris
You can use this with your a9 and your a7 but you have to use FZ100 battery packs to power it.

How fast does this charge 4 batteries to full?

How fast does this charge 4 batteries to full?
Asked by: Christian
I cannot answer that as I find that I only charge two at a time and have the other two in the camera. I believe the batteries are charged one at a time in the charger and not all at once. Time wise, the charger is pretty fast.

I have this unit, does there have to be batteries in it to power the camera? I can't get it to power the camera without at least 1 battery in the pack and the pack plugged into AC Power.
Asked by: John
The Sony NPA-MQZ1K Multi Battery Adapter Kit needs to have at least one battery in it to power the camera. In order for it to power the camera longer than one battery in the camera you should put two to four batteries in the Sony NPA-MQZ1K Multi Battery Adapter Kit. This is not an AC adapter. You could plug it into the wall to charge the installed batteries.

I want to cut the hardwired dummy batter cord to make this more nimble (I saw that someone else did this and it didn't effect functionality). I'd like to then get a Z battery dummy to either USB or barrel as it seems like plugging that into one of the out ports woudl effectively be the same thing. Any reason others can see why this wouldn't work? (I'd get a barrel or USB rated to 15V just to allow for variance.
Asked by: Dane
If you power it off a USB dummy battery, you are stepping the 7.2V battery pack voltage down to 5V of USB, then stepping it back up to 7.2V in the dummy battery. Stepping down and stepping up the voltage will probably waste 10-20% of energy to heat, which results in a shorter runtime and more heat generation. It would be better to cut off the cord near the body, and terminate the two now cut ends with suitable connectors. Then you would have both the portability and no efficiency loss.

Would it be possible to use this to power a camera while also powering a monitor, like the SmallHD 502? Would I need an LP-E6 dummy battery?
Asked by: Charles
You have a 12 v out as well as two USB outs. If you had for batteries in this at full charge and the dummy in the sony camera, you could totally get a USB to barrel or barrel to barrel to hook into the dummy LP-E6 that comes with the 502 (I just did it today and it came with mine it might have been a SmallHD promo).
