Elvid OCM-7B-4KV2 overview

  • 1Description

Perfect for DSLR and mirrorless cameras, or any other video or cinema camera with an HDMI output, the Elvid FieldVision 4KV2 7" On-Camera Monitor allows you to monitor SD, HD, and 4K video signals on its high-resolution 1920 x 1200 IPS LCD screen. Monitoring tools such as focus peaking, zebras, 1:1 pixel mapping, and more make it easy to assess your image on the FieldVision 4KV2.

The IPS LCD panel on the FieldVision 4KV2 has a contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a brightness of 450 cd/m², making it easily viewable indoors. In bright sunlit outdoor conditions, or other situations with bright direct light, use the included sun hood to block any glare for a clear view of the screen.

Power can be supplied to the monitor via the included L-Series battery plate. L-Series batteries are widely available, and come in a variety of sizes. If you already own L-Series-powered cameras or accessories, powering this monitor won't be a problem. An articulated ball shoe mount, Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, and an HDMI cable locking collar are also included.

4K Signal Support
The FieldVision 4KV2 can display UHD and DCI 4K signals. The 1920 x 1200 display can be used to easily check the focus and framing of your high-resolution video.
Full-Size HDMI Input
The durable full-size HDMI input supports resolutions ranging from SD all the way up to DCI 4K. A locking cable clamp is included to prevent signal dropouts in the event of a snag.
Analog Composite Video Input
With a separately available 3.5mm breakout cable, composite video and audio signals from legacy or wireless video sources can be easily monitored.
Focus Assist
When you need to fine-tune your picture, enable the peaking filter to remove color from the image and add a red outline to any part of the image that's in focus.
Pixel-to-Pixel Mapping
Pixel-to-pixel mode is another feature the FieldVision 4KV2 offers for focusing accuracy. The monitor will display a 4K signal at a 1:1 resolution without any scaling or processing. When activated, the field-of-view will zoom in so you can view your picture in fine detail.
Markers and Image Overlays
Broadcast-specific features include a center marker and an on-screen box that functions as a safety frame marker at a set percentage of the screen size. Select between 80%, 85%, 90%, 93%, or 96%.
Check Field Mode
One of several included tools to perfect your picture, the Check Field mode helps you accurately calibrate the monitor by displaying only the selected color onscreen. Choose from red, green, blue, or gray for a grayscale image.
Image Flip
Flip image is an advanced feature that allows you to adjust the picture if you need to mount your monitor upside down, or if an adapter changes the orientation of the image.
Freeze Image
The image freeze option allows you to freeze the current on-screen image to analyze your frame as a still picture for quick framing reference.
Anamorphic De-Squeeze
This mode corrects your image based on the anamorphic ratio of the lens in use. The monitor will display the image captured by your anamorphic lens without the anamorphic squeeze, for easier monitoring.
For quickly assessing your exposure for blown highlights, the zebras are animated black and white stripes through areas of the image that are overexposed. The sensitivity of the zebra switch can be set between 1 and 100 IRE.
Audio Monitoring
It's easy to monitor your incoming audio signal with the FieldVision 4KV2, whether it's from the built-in speaker or with the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Easily Accessible Menus
Entering the menu is as simple as the push of a button. OSD menu navigation is simple and straightforward using directional buttons.
Programmable Function Buttons
Four programmable function buttons on the front panel let you create shortcuts to the functions you use most often. This lets you quickly access broadcast-specific functions as well as the features you need to fine-tune your image.
Includes Sun Hood
The included sun hood prevents glare on the monitor's screen by blocking out stray light. It's indispensable when shooting outdoors or in other brightly lit environments.

    Elvid OCM-7B-4KV2 reviews

    FieldVision 4KV2 7" On-Camera Monitor is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor! I have been using the Elvid FieldVision 4kV2 for a couple weeks. It's very easy to set up and get running. It runs on my Sony batteries so I didn't need to have an extra set of random batteries and a different charger. The quality, while not perfect, is amazing for the price point. The image is crisp and clear on the monitor. The buttons are responsive. Has great features like LuTs, focus monitoring and false color. I was surprised since the unit is so affordable. I am loving the Elvid and I'm glad I have it as part of the kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO far, great! Just unboxed and set up this monitor on my Sony PXW-X70 and have played with it a bit now.....and I have to say I am HAPPILY surprised as to the quality considering the price. The packaging is excellent and reminds me of higher dollar items. Conveniently sized instruction manual for stowing with my gear. The ball mount is better than I expected though I am sure there are better ones maybe.....but perched atop my camera which is small to begin with, the whole assembly seems sturdy enough for tripod shoots. Any movement I have is actually in the cold shoe of my camera, not the ball mount...... The image quality (indoors) looks great to me and is a major relief to my old eyes trying to see the X70s tiny built in screen....I may be able to leave the reading glasses in my bag at shoots now! :) It DOESN'T come with a battery or even a power adaptor, which at first is a turnoff.....and the HDMI cable that ships with it is a HDMI - HDMI mini...I needed an HDMI to HDMI.......I bought those items separate....but even with the $10 I paid for the Ikan adaptor that Elvid recommends and the $10 I paid for an Ikan HDMI-HMDI 18" cable, its still a great deal IMHO at full sale price, and with the B&H great deal/instant rebate discount I got, an AMAZING value....the discount paid for the cable and adaptor and left $10 towards a battery. Will come back and adjust my review as I get a chance to use it in the field. Looking forward to many happy shoots with this monitor!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable image and features for the price I used to have a 5 Lilliput monitor that took 5 seconds for the image to appear every time to changed modes on the camera. This unit is fast, bright and high res, and has features you dont see on $1000+ monitors, like false color, focus peaking and waveforms. The menu is easy to navigate and you can store your 4 most used features on the hot buttons. For people who are sick of true to gauge critical focus on the tiny, 1 inch screens of the DLSRs, this unit is a game changer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Professional Monitor At A Budget Price The Elvid Fieldvision Monitor has everything one would except and want in a professional on-camera monitor but it comes in at a budget price in comparison to comparable monitors. At the time of this review the monitor is just $179 at B&H. Other monitors of similar specs are priced between $400- $800. Good: The best thing about this monitor is that at seven inches the screen size is perfect for on camera uses making it easy to see your shot, focus it and make sure it's properly composed. The way the Fieldvision 4K is designed there is minimal space around the screen so you have a seven inch monitor with a very small profile. Good: The Fieldvision 4K can display both UHD and DCI 4K and has a 1920x1200 pixel screen. Good: This Elvid monitor has plenty of advanced features like focus peaking, false color and a histograms. The Fieldvision 4K can run on a Sony L Battery, has ports for micro USB, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The only things I really wish they would have included with the Fieldvision 4K is a starter battery and a case for the monitor. I would really like to open the box and have everything I need right there ready to go. I would also like to have a case or a pooch to store the monitor in so the screen doesn't get scratched up or damaged when not in use or when transporting it. I little neoprene sleeve would have been perfect. All in all I think the Fieldvision 4K is a great monitor or professionals and amateurs alike. There are features that you can grow into if you don't need them now or if you are already in need of advanced features then you already have them in the Elvid Fieldvision 4K On-Camera Monitor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent little monitor I like this monitor a lot. It's easy to mount, the controls are convenient, and the image is crystal clear with the HDMI cable. They only provide a mini HDMI output cable, which I couldn't use, so had to use my own standard HDMI. It would have been nice if they included the necessary 12v AC power pack. I had to obtain my own in order to run the AC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All Satisfactory Am using this with GH5 shooting 4K (10 bit) and, as advertised the monitor supports 4K resolution as I am getting full frame image. Image quality is quite good (sharpness, detail, color) and can be adjusted to closely match camera LED screen (contrast, brightness, etc.). There's lag as expected but it's not much of an issue with the kind of work I'm doing. Only draw back might be that this model doesn't show data on the screen except for audio levels. Other Elvid models I've seen demoed on Youtube (including one that seemed to be this one) do show data so that was weird and a disappointment. Work around is showing data on camera screen which works fine, leaving the Elvid monitor image clean. I've never used a field monitor before so I don't know what a 1K dollar monitor is like compared to this. My needs are fairly basic (framing, focus, readable detail, etc.) so this is working out fine. I imagine for pro commercial shooters this wouldn't do it (lag alone making it difficult to work with), but if you're needs aren't too demanding for the price this is a solid monitor and a great deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is what I've been looking for Our astronomy club does outreach in the form of "star parties" wherein we give the public looks through our telescopes. Unfortunately, some visitors have a difficult time reaching the eyepiece, or are chair-bound. Up to now, I've been using my camera's LCD display. But that has its limitations. Enter the Elvid - large, bright, clear display. Easy controls (just press the power button), I don't mind that the battery is separate since I can use the 12v input and run from a battery. (Although, I did buy the Sony battery and charger due to it's convenience.) I also don't mind the hotshoe adapter. But, I don't see what else they could have done due to the size of what the unit has to attach to. And, the monitor will come in handy when making instructional videos since my camera's LCD does not completely articulate. Now, I can have the Elvid face me while I'm recording. All-in-all, a very well made product at a very reasonable price.
