The AH-D7200 Reference Over-Ear Headphones from Denon use Japanese-made Free Edge drivers, which deliver a precise pistonic motion for accurate sound with minimal distortion. The drivers are mounted on vibration-reducing engineering resin baffles, fitted into self-damping real walnut housings designed to bring life to the sound.

A detachable 7N-purity copper cable ensures signal transmission—it is fitted with a durable machine-cut metal plug with an ornamental copper ring. The earcups are suspended on a headband finished in real sheepskin leather and feature ergonomically curved die-cast aluminum hangers, while the memory foam ear cushions are covered with soft artificial leather.

FreeEdge Driver Technology

The 50mm Free Edge driver diaphragm, made from a nano-fiber material, delivers an accurate pistonic motion without distortion, and is also self-damping to cancel out unwanted resonances within the diaphragm. It's mounted in a soft, compliant setting, making it easier for it to move in response to the music signal without flexing or distorting, for the purest possible sound.

Real Wood Earcups

The natural walnut ear cups enhance the sound experience. They are self-damping and strong, eliminating unwanted vibrations for detailed reproduction that brings concert hall-like life, warmth, and musicality to your listening experience.

High-Quality Connection

A detachable 7N-purity copper cable ensures good signal transmission—it is fitted with a durable machine-cut metal plug with an ornamental copper ring.

Flexible Adjustment

To accommodate varied head sizes, the adjustable headband uses positive ball-bearing click-stops for precise and repeatable adjustment. Numbered markings indicate how to restore your personal setting quickly and precisely.

The headband deploys ergonomically contoured die-cast aluminum construction for optimized comfort and fit. The earpads are gently wrapped in soft engineered leather and memory foam, allowing them to conform to the shape of your head for the most comfortable fit.

The outside of the headband is adorned with natural sheepskin leather for a soft feel, while the inside uses stitched engineered leather for comfort and durability.

Denon AH-D7200 Reviews

Very versatile and I play all styles!!!

it plays extremely warm, voluminous and mild, but does not share the typical shortcomings of similarly lubricated "melting products", but has no noticeable weaknesses in terms of pulse fidelity, dynamics, transparency and purity across the frequency spectrum. represents the lowest octaves with a little more power and dominance than the strict rule of neutrality would suggest, without being too strong; Despite its impressive size, the bass range is capable of brisk attack. On Wednesdays with at least a romantic note and a pinch of extra melting, it never sounds cloudy or inflated, but rather clearly audible and well emphasized. it works in the area of presence with a slight decrease in frequency and from a medium high range upwards with a clear rolling, which in the overall tonal result leads to long-term relaxation without turning into a stale mold. In other words: always carefree but never boring. is roughly dynamic in the average of a good class, slightly dynamic even a league higher. depicts a not too wide or deep, but a pleasant three-dimensional physical stage that favors a harmonious overall sound over the separation of individual events. could use a slightly higher resolution for detailed ears, which is especially evident in contrast to more expensive or strongly analytically tuned listeners.

I have the pieace of art for few weeks now. It feels like discovering the music world from the very begining. Balanced, super comfortable to wear. High end product for those who see 0% compromises.

Outstanding Headphones

I’ve owned my pair since 2017. The sounded amazing and they still sound amazing today. Sound quality is outstanding. Beautiful low end, crisp highs but not tinny. Mids are nicely presented not at all harsh. The overall sound is like butter, essentially listening to vinyl. The only reason I gave the a 4 is, for me, the openings on the ear pads JUST fit my dumbo ears. They are large. ‘besides this one thing they are worth the money imho.

I just love these headphones. I have many other pairs that I enjoy listening to but the AH-D7200 have to be my favorite pair. When I put them on it's like returning home. They are the only pair of headphones I have ever had that make me feel sad to remove, it's almost painful. I love how amplifier dependent they are but it never seems to makes them sound bad, just shows the amp strengths and weaknesses.

Superb redesign of a classic!

Truly a masterpiece. Extremely good build quality with gorgeous design, I'm glad that the headband system and the entire frame were redesigned from old Denons. Comfort is quite amazing, plush and soft ear-pads, just the right size, perhaps could be a little deeper/tricker but it would impact the sound quality for sure. The headband was a little stiff in the beginning, I was always aware of its presence on my head but it got really comfortable over time the point where I don't even feel it anymore. Also bonus points for a detachable cable! The drivers are extremely resolving and detailed. They produce very tight and punchy bass like most Denons / Fostex, perhaps here they're slightly more in line with the rest of the spectrum. Highs are polite and never fatiguing at all, definitely not veiled. The midrange sounds very intimate, personal and detailed, slightly forward. The notes have weight to them and feel very realistic. The overall tonality is quite balanced with that extra warmth added to make things enjoyable for long listening sessions. However, the vocals sounded a little too harsh in the beginning but luckily got much smoother after the burn-in period (about 30 hours). The only gripe I have with it is the stock cable, it's got a strange plastic feeling to it, it's quite microphonic and doesn't want to straighten out even after months. Luckily there are many aftermarket options and I replaced mine with a custom one. Overall and absolutely stellar product for its asking price so if you loved the older Denon / Fostex sound you should definitely check these out!
