Haida NanoPro MC ND Filter (77mm, 6-Stop)
Key Features
  • 1.8 Optical Density
  • Multicoated, Nano Coating
  • Optical Glass Construction
  • 77mm Front Filter Threads
The 77mm NanoPro MC ND Filter from Haida provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time, you can create motion blur for special effects or to convey a sense of movement. Opening your iris allows you to create shallow depth of field, which can help isolate your subject. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

Haida NanoPro ND Filter Overview

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coatings, which also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help keep it clean for a longer period of time. The Nano coating associated with the Haida 77mm NanoPro MC Solid Neutral Density 1.8 Filter provides an additional layer that results in an improved beading effect when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

A thin, aluminum alloy filter ring minimizes the potential for vignetting, while remaining durable and lightweight.

Recommended by Scott Kelby and Erik Kuna - a long exposure project for the KelbyOne Inner Circle. Results were fantastic. I am giving serious consideration to doing more long exposure captures, but will need to get a 10-stop filter. :)

Not too expensive, good fit. Good for shooting video at the sun early morning/late afternoon without having to stop down too much.

question

Why is this filter Red?
Asked by: Howie
The filters are coated on both side and at certain angles, the filter surfaces reflect certain colors. However, the light going through the filter and the lens is not this color but a neutral one. There will be no adverse affect on your image.
