Interfit Honey Badger overview

  • 1Description

Featuring a small form factor and lightweight, the Honey Badger 320Ws 2-Light Kit from Interfit contains everything the traveling photographer needs for studio quality lighting on the road. The kit contains two 320Ws Honey Badger flash heads, each with a pop-up 24x24" softbox and a 7.6' light stand. The flash heads have a wireless receiver built into them, and the kit includes an S1 15-channel manual remote that controls triggering, modeling light, and ready beep at distances up to 320'. It all fits in the included kit bag.

  • Honey Badger 320Ws Compact Flash Head

Name after a small ferocious animal with a deceptively wholesome name, the Honey Badger 320Ws Compact Flash Head from Interfit has a space-efficient 5 x 5 x 6" form factor, weighs just 3 lb, and contains some impressive features. The light boasts a 7-stop flash power range that can be adjusted in 1/10 stop increments and a 60W LED modeling lamp that is the equivalent of 300 tungsten watts and can be used manually or set to output proportionate to the flash intensity. The modeling lamp has a 5600K color temperature and is flicker-free for use as a video light. Recycle time is a fast 1 second at full power and a fraction of that at lower power. Flash durations are correspondingly short - as quick as 1/900 second (t.1) for freezing action at peak moments.

The Honey Badger has a built-in wireless receiver that accepts signals from a separately purchased S1 manual or TTL transmitters that can not only wirelessly trigger the flash, but control power level, modeling light, and the beep indicator for full recycling. The light has a Bowens S-Type front accessory mount making it compatible with the many manufacturers that produce products with this mount. The Honey Badger also has a built-in pop-up softbox ring that makes for very fast setup with the included 24 x 24" softbox. Lightweight with a small form factor and impressive performance, the Honey Badger is hard to beat.

    Compact Form Factor
Size and weight matter to the mobile photographer. The Honey Badger weighs just 3 lb, measures 5" wide (6" including the outer ring), and 6" deep from the back panel to the edge of the protective cap. The robust and compact housing makes the Honey Badger the ideal solution for photographers on the move.
    Extended Power Range
The Honey Badger has an impressive 7-stop power range, two more stops than many studio flash heads. Power can be adjusted from 320Ws down to 5Ws in 1/10th stop increments for precise exposure.
    Fast Recycle Time
At full power, the Honey Badger recycles in just 1 second. Recycle times get even shorter as you decrease flash power.
    Short Flash Duration
Short flash durations give you the ability to freeze motion beyond the capabilities of the shutter sync speed. At full power, the Honey Badger has a t.1 flash duration of 1/900.
    60W LED Modeling Lamp
The Honey Badger is equipped with a 60W LED modeling lamp with the equivalent light output of a 300W tungsten lamp. This flicker-free LED can be used as a continuous light source for both photo and video purposes. The modeling lamp can be set to adjust proportionately to the flash power, or to full power. The color temperature was intentionally set to 5600K (daylight), to accurately portray the color rendition of the flash's output.
    Versatile Modifier Mount
A convenient feature of the Honey Badger is the versatile modifier mount. The Honey Badger utilizes the popular Bowens S-Type modifier mount, making it compatible with the same modifiers as the S1. The Honey Badger also features a built-in pop-up softbox ring for use with pop-up style softboxes that are popular with speedlight shooters.
    Included Pop-Up Softbox
Every Honey Badger includes a 24x24" pop-up softbox with an inner and outer diffuser. This style of softbox does not require an elaborate setup and folds away quickly and compactly.
    Glass Dome Diffuser
The Honey Badger includes a frosted glass dome diffuser. This protects the flash tube and helps to spread light evenly throughout the modifier.
  • S1 Manual Remote for all Cameras

Compatible with the S1, S1a, and Honey Badger and all cameras, the S1 Manual Remote for All Cameras from Interfit has 15 wireless channels to thwart interference from other radio systems and supports 8 distinct groups for control of multiple light setups. The remote can adjust power level, modeling light, and full power beep indicator at distances up to 320'. It uses the 2.4 GHz frequency and supports a maximum sync speed of 1/250 second. While the remote runs on AAA batteries, there's also an AC power option for more permanent setups.

    Manual Mode
This remote is compatible with all makes and models of cameras (film and digital) in manual mode. (Access to TTL and HSS functions of S1 and S1a require the dedicated TTL remotes)
    Remote Power Adjustment
The S1 Manual Remote allows you to control the power output of your S1, S1a, or Honey Badger from the camera position.
    15 Channels
Having 15 channels allows you to work in close proximity with other photographers without interfering with each other's light setups. Channels are displayed by numbers 1-15.
    8 Control Groups
This feature allows you to control up to 8 groups of lights independently of one another. Groups are displayed by letters, A-H.
    320' Wireless Range
The 320' wireless range lets you roam freely around the studio, field, city block, or wherever your work takes you.
    Additional Controls
In addition to triggering and manual control, the Interfit S1 Manual Remote allows you to control the modeling lamps and audible beeps on your lights.
    AAA Batteries
All S1 remotes are powered by two AAA batteries.
    3.5mm Sync Jack
The 3.5mm sync jack on the side of the remote allows you to use your S1, S1a, or Honey Badger lights in conjunction with other radio flash systems. Simply connect your 3rd-party remote to the S1 remote via sync cable to fire all lights together.
    AC Power Option
The S1 Manual Remote can be powered by AC power using the micro-USB port on the side of the remote, eliminating the need for replacement batteries and disabling the remote's auto-shut-off functions. This is especially useful for long-term or permanent camera fixtures.

Interfit Honey Badger reviews

Honey Badger 320Ws 2-Light Kit is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! Impressive lights! I bought this kit for my daughter who is just starting art school. We set it up in the living room to test it out and get a feel for it before she left and I have to say... WOW! I honestly didn't expect them to perform as well as they did. I've been a life-long Bowens user, but I'm tempted to make the switch! Either that or keep these and give my old lights to my daughter ;) Pro's: - Compact. The whole kit fits in a relatively small bag. Perfect for her dorm room. - BRIGHT Modeling light. The demo videos don't do this justice. It's SUPER bright! It'll be great when she needs to do video projects. - Remote control. That was a really nice feature simply because I didn't have to worry about trying to buy the right remote for her camera... It was just there! - Color consistency. This is what really blew me away! The website says +/-200 Kelvin, but when I checked it with my color meter, it was never more than +/- 75 Kelvin!!! Not something I'd expect from a light at this price point. - Included softbox. That's a nice touch. Easy to set up, pretty good light. Definitely enough to get started. Plus the bowens mount means she can use any of my softboxes or beauty dishes. Cons: - ................ I'll get back to you on that...
