Sony FA-WRC1M-KIT Overview

Upgrade your camera and flash system to completely wireless operation with this Sony FA-WRC1M Wireless Radio Commander with FA-WRR1 Wireless Radio Receiver Kit from B&H. Packing together both the Commander and Receiver, you will have both pieces needed to take your shoe-mounted Sony-compatible flash off camera while retaining full TTL and high-speed sync functionality. This setup also permits for remote triggering of other cameras when a second camera is connected via the receiver's Multi Terminal.

Sony FA-WRC1M Wireless Radio Commander

Create a versatile and reliable off-camera flash setup by picking up the FA-WRC1M Wireless Radio Commander from Sony. Able to quickly and easily slide into the Multi Interface Shoe of your compatible Sony camera, this device provides effective remote control of up to 15 separately available FA-WRR1 Wireless Radio Receivers or radio-equipped RM-series flashes from up to 98.4' away thanks to a 2.4 GHz radio system. This configuration also permits operation without requiring line of sight with all the units involved. Additionally, it has access to 14 channels for avoiding interference with other radio triggering systems in the vicinity as well as up to 5 groups for precise control over your lights.

The major benefit of the Wireless Radio Commander is remote control over your flash's settings. This includes exposure compensation, flash power from 1/1 to 1/256, zoom, and more. Along with this, the radio system has full compatibility with Sony's TTL method and supports High-Speed Sync at up to 1/8000 second. Other flashes can be triggered in a manual mode and a PC sync terminal is available for connecting to various strobes and other lights. In addition to all of this, the Commander is equipped with a Multi Terminal for connection and controlling other cameras.

This Commander unit is dust and moisture resistant in order to hold up in less-than-ideal environments much like the cameras. Additionally, it runs on 2 AA batteries.

Expand your wireless flash and camera setup with this FA-WRR1 Wireless Radio Receiver from Sony. Featuring a Multi Interface Shoe on the top, this receiver will directly support most Sony-compatible flash units and will even work in manual mode with flashes that use the Auto-lock Accessory Terminal along with an adapter. For full functionality a flash with the Multi Interface Shoe is required, enabling TTL and High-Speed Sync support as well as all remote control functions via the FA-WRC1M Wireless Radio Controller or a compatible radio-equipped commander flash. This works really well with my Sony a7ii. I have this plus two HVL-F45 flashes and with the help from the manual, I was able to easily set it up to trigger the other two flashes.

Works as it should.

I purchased this due to the specific Sony hot shoe requirement. I use the A7r2 and the Sony FM60 flash. Distance/reception is good. I've tried it all the way to the limits with satisfaction.

This device is not compatible with all cameras

I bought this item a few months back but I returned it because it was not compatible with the a99 a77 and A7 cameras. I was looking for a TTL and high speed sync option for my cameras. What's quite astounding here is that I have a bunch of older Sony flashes that are compatible with the receiver but the transmitter is not compatible with the older cameras which doesn't make any sense considering some of the cameras I have used the new multi-interface hot shoe which I don't know who designed this product not to be compatible with all Sony cameras it just doesn't make sense.

Really Nice Kit!

question

Can I use non Sony (e.g., Nikon) flash with this?
Asked by: Alex
As indicated under the Overview for the Sony FA-WRC1M Wireless Radio Commander with FA-WRR1 Wireless Radio Receiver Kit, it is compatible for use with the following Sony Multi-Interface hot shoe flashes:Compatible FlashesHVL-F32MHVL-F43MHVL-F60MHVL-F42AM (manual only, requires ADP-MAA Shoe Adapter)HVL-F43AM (manual only, requires ADP-MAA Shoe Adapter)HVL-F58AM (manual only, requires ADP-MAA Shoe Adapter)As Nikon flashes do not have the extra pin design on the front of the hot shoe as does Sony's Multi-Interface flashes, there would be no extra communication for adjusting output power, zoom, exposure compensation, HSS, etc. If you use a Nikon flash on the above remote, the flash would have to be set to full Manual mode, and you would have to preset the flash output manually on the Nikon flash.
