Inday DA4X Overview

Switch four audio sources such as a digital TV, DVD player, CD player, or other source to one output such as a speaker system or mixer using this DA4X-R SPDIF 4x1 Digital Audio Switcher from Inday. The switcher allows input from four RCA/coax sources or four optical SPDIF sources and passes the audio from your selected source without processing or encoding to the single RCA/coax and single optical SPDIF outputs simultaneously.

The DA4X-R accepts any audio format such as PCM, DTS, Dolby, or AC3 and passes through signals supporting up to 192 kHz at 12.288 Mb/s. All the RCA connectors are gold-plated for the highest quality signal, and the TOSLINK ports all have built-in shutters so no port covers are required when they are not in use. The unit can be controlled with the included remote control, and a 12 VDC power adapter is also included.

Inday DA4X Reviews

RS-232?

I have several A/V devices, all of which have S/PDIF outputs and I use the DA4X-R to funnel the down to a single Coax to feed into my system's DAC. This works fine using the factory configuration. I would be out of luck if I wanted to change the configuration because instead of a connector there is a small stencilled circle. Other than that I would give it five stars.

Does The Job

Bought a different company's used digital switcher that turned out to be really glitchy, so ended up getting the Inday new here at B&H.   No issues, does what it should. Have noticed no degradation of sound whatsoever and it stays cool in my AV console... no heat.

My AA digital switch just died. This worked perfectly.

Just a little drawback

There are two cons, depending on how youd use it: First, pulling the power cord out it wont keep last selected channel (even a 15 dollar chinese switch can do this). It keeps last selected channel only when you power OFF using IR remote. Only then, on next power ON it would keep last engaged channel. Second, IR remote works only under 2m. If you depart more than that it wont change the channel. Except these two issues, it is a nice looking device and switch signals without glitches and seems its not adding jitter.

Perfect. Allows me to switch between sat and DVD sound because the optical output on my TV doesn't work anymore

Bought this for a dual feed need that I had. Works well. Interfaced it with my Logitech all in one remote. I had to do some manipulation to get it to work where it would change from one connection to the other. I was not able to control the power on/off functions with the remote. I could get it to turn off but not back on. I just leave it on always and it does what I need it to.

Flawless SPDIF switcher

Using to switch optical signals from 4x sources into 1x input on a Benchmark DAC-1. Works flawlessly. Nice button action on the select front panel control. No clicks of pops with sticking or power. Included remote works well, but it's a little flimsy/generic type (I just use the front panel button and will be programming into a universal remote). Highly recommended! And made in the USA.

If I have a pair of RCA inputs (coming from right and left outputs from a turntable), can this unit send both inputs (right and left) to the optical output (to get stereo sound)?
Asked by: Leonard
The Inday DA4X-R SPDIF 4x1 Digital Audio Switcher does not feature the ability to combine or mix inputs to be sent out of the device together. Because they would be summed coming out of the single optical or coax output anyhow, perhaps summing the stereo signal before it feeds the DA4X-R would allow you to achieve your desired outcome. Also note that this unit is expecting a digital signal not often found directly on turntable output connections themselves.

will this work backwards? I have one spdif signal that I want to send to multiple units still using it like a switcher.
Asked by: Raymond
This is a pass- through device, so it would work backwards as well.
