Elinchrom Octabox 135cm Overview

Known for its flexibility and superior construction, the 53" Rotalux Octabox from Elinchrom has a large surface area and a wraparound quality of light that is popular with portrait artists and fashion photographers, especially when used up close. Well-suited to head-and-shoulders and full-length shooting, the Octabox's unique shape also reflects natural-looking catchlights in the eyes of your subject. The softbox has removable interior and exterior white diffusers that can be used one at a time, together, or not at all for different contrast and softness options.

Optional translucent deflectors bounce light to the back of the Octabox to remove the hot spot and further soften the light. A separately purchased hooded diffuser limits spill light, while an optional collapsible fabric grid narrows the beam angle and thwarts spill light. The light shaper's separately purchased speed ring has spring-loaded sockets that allow you to mount the support poles in sockets tension-free, then snap them into place. The Octabox has a silver interior for maximum output and comes with a bag for storage and transport.

Benefits
  • Second internal diffuser
  • Included carrying bag
  • Gray rip piping with professional finish
  • Hooded diffuser is available - reduces the spread of light
  • Optional Lighttools fabric grids to narrow the beam spread

    Beautiful Soft Light

Very beautiful diffusion. I prefer the quality over anything profoto or westcott has to offer. A little cumbersome to set up, but it's a great piece to have in the studio.

    One of my favorite modifiers

Once its initially built setting it up and breaking it down is a breeze. Easily one of my favorite modifiers to use for product, food, and portraits. With the inner and outer diffusion its super versatile.

    question

What is the difference between this one and the older version that was recently discontinued ?
    Asked by: Darnell N.
The only difference between the older (now discontinued) Elinchrom Rotalux Softbox Octa (53 ), B&H # ELSBRJO53, and the current Elinchrom Rotalux Octabox (135cm / 53 ), B&H # EL26647, is the original softbox included the Elinchrom speedring which was only compatible with Elinchrom strobes. The current softbox does not include a speedring. As such, you must purchase the speedring separately, but Elinchrom manufactures speedrings for multiple brands which may all use the above softbox. Otherwise, the softboxes are the same.

If you're using this with an elinchrom light do you still need to purchase a separate speed ring or out of the box will it be able to attach to the light?
    Asked by: Emma
Yes. the following does not include the speed ring to attach the unit. Please look into the following speed ring in order to attach the unit to a strobe unit. https://bhpho.to/3xD67hu

I'm using it on an Apurture 300D II with no issue. With an LED continuous light you should be fine.
