Godox TT350 Reviews

Update for Z7 use

By Edward

This is a nice, inexpensive flash unit BUT it needs to have its firmware updated to work with a Z6, Z7, Z6ii, Z7ii so that the version is 1.4. The update process is complicated and a Youtube video on the procedure should be watched before trying it. Also the software used to install the update will not run on a Mac. Luckily I had an old PC that I could use to do it.

They're what you'd expect

The flash is what you'd expect given the price and size. Output is meh, recycle time is meh (especially past like 1/8 power). The good: Works with the R2 system and having a small battery powered unit was great to use as a special FX light, which is how I used it. Easy to fit in small places to light it up.

Great little flash

Everything good about this flash has been said in the other reviews. However there's seems to be a few complaining about poor battery life. That hasn't been my experience. I own two of these little flashes and one 685 and a can get at least 200-300 shots at 1/8-1/16 from the 350s. I do use high capacity 2550 mAh Ni-MH batteries though.

Decent Flash Update Nightmare

The flash works nicely. However to use it with current camera had to update the firmware. Manual says to go to official Godox site but doesn't tell you what the site's URL is. You have to download the correct Installer driver for the particular flash. No mention that it could be a file that needs to be unzipped first. Then you have to download the actual firmware with AGAIN no mention of having to unzip the file to use it. Could not find any documentation on their site for those kinds of instructions. Very poor support from Godox in my opinion.

Godox TT350N flash

While I was happy with the light output, I was surprised at battery use. I recently did a wedding and used 2 umbrella light stands. One stand had the Godox (2 batteries), I used a product specific flash (4 batteries) for the second setup. I used three sets of batteries in the Godox flash to one set of batteries in the other flash. Both flashes were set at half power,

Small, easy to use, enough power for what I want.

I bought one for my Fuji X-T2 mirrorless. It's small footprint makes it look like it belongs on the camera, and not that the camera is a stand holding up a huge flash. Then I bought a 2nd one for my Olympus Pen-F. This mirrorless is smaller than the Fuji, and it still looks good on top. Besides bounce, and swivel and the pull out screens to spread the light out, and put catchlights in the eyes, it has both optical sync and high speed sync too. No complicated menus, has TTL and in manual just turn the dial to go down to 128th power. My 2 AA batteries recharge in 3-4 seconds. Great little flash.

Buy Eneloop Pros with this

Critical reviews cite poor battery life but the manual for this flash states that the advertised number of flashes ~200 at 1/1 is for high capacity 2500mah AAs. I bought two sets of Panasonic Eneloop Pros with 2550mah capacity along with this and am very happy with the performance. Also, this flash only takes 2 AAs and personally I am transitioning from a canon 430EX which took 4 AAs so relative to the number of flashes that two AAs gets you, this actually performs really well with the benefit being this is less bulky for smaller mirrorless cameras. Looks very pro on my Fuji XT4.

I can't get this flash to communicate with the X-T30 - I'm using with the Laowa 65mm - all manual mode - shooting without a lens. I can't get the flash to communicate. Help?
Asked by: Theresa
In addition to the other suggestions, I would also suggest ensuring you set the focal length in the menu. The Laowa 65mm doesn't have any contacts to communicate with the camera, so the camera has no focal length to communicate in TTL (if you are using TTL). After you ensure that the camera recognizes the flash is attached based on the other suggestions, have a look at that.
