    Rode VXLR+ reviews

VXLR Plus - 3.5mm to XLR Adapter with Power Converter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad, not as good as expected Great idea for a product -- something like this has been needed for a long time. I had hoped that this would let me plug my lav mics such as the Giant Squid, which have standard 3.5mm plugs but need phono power, into a DBX 286s -- so I could use the noise-gate, compression and EQ to record great audio with a variety of relatively inexpensive lav mics. Unfortunately it is only a partial success. Sometimes the VXLR+ works as expected, sometimes it introduces a buzzing sound into seemingly random recordings, and sometimes it seems to significantly alter the sound of the mic, getting a thin, high sound out of mics that sounded robust when plugged directly into a phono jack like on the Zoom H1. The altered pitch is OK if you're plugging in to a device like the DBX that lets you adjust sound (although it means twisting a lot of dials to fix the sound), but if I was plugging the lav mic and VXLR+ directly into a USB audio interface, I would be very disappointed in the tinny sound and intermittent buzz. Again, great idea for a product but it seems to need work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works as advertised Allowed me to use my Antlion Modmic in a USB audio interface that only proved 48V. Perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Addapter is Little Expensive but Works Great I own several pairs of the Sennheiser G3 camera mount wireless transmitters and receivers with the ME-2 lavalier mics. The ME-2's are excellent mics but there are times when I can' not or do not want to go wireless. These, mini-XLR to standard XLR, adapters enable me to attach my lapel mic to any XLR input with phantom power and, thus, bypass the wireless transmitter and receiver altogether.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect with my Zoom H6 and Lav mics Well made, and lets me use the XLR inputs on the H6 with phantom power set at 12 volts, with my Giant Squid Audio cheap but very good lavalier mics. They hold the mic plug and the XLR sockets firmly, and I don't worry about them coming loose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powers PC headset mic for external mixer Not the designed use for the adapter, but it work well - PC mic require ~5v which is normally supplied via the sound card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice addition Attaching this to the Rode Smart Lav allows me to take the shotgun to a mixer. Nice addition.
