  • 1Description

The 27MD5KB-B UltraFine 27" 16:9 5K IPS Monitor from LG is a unique display that features only Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, which makes it suitable for Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C equipped laptops such as the MacBook or MacBook Pro. Using the included Thunderbolt 3 cable, it supports 5K video, audio via its two 5W speakers, power delivery, as well as its built-in webcam for video conferencing. Moreover, it has a 5120 x 2880 resolution for crisp and clear details and a 14 ms (GtG) response time.

Built with an IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel, it offers wide 178° viewing angles and vivid colors. Once connected to your system, you can tilt and adjust its height to fit your viewing preference, or use its 100 x 100mm VESA mounting holes to install an optional mount, stand, or arm.

    LG 27MD5KB-B reviews

    27MD5KB-B UltraFine 27" 16:9 5K IPS Monitor is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comments and rating for the 5KA-B from Apple. 5kB-B to come Three stars reflects the 5KA-B model. I have purchased a 5KB-B and will report on that in 10 days. The 5KA-B model was supposed to have been recalled, but Apple stills sell them and I bought one. The picture is stunning, maybe even a little better than the 2017 iMAC 27 inch retina display. But there were problems--it would occasionally drop data so that you were looking at the desktop background but nothing else. You would need to restart the monitor to correct the issue. I returned it. Many bad reviews about this model. We will see how the 5KB-B does. Surprised there are no ratings so far. Too expensive?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from When it works it's great The first shipment I received it was dead on arrival. The thunderbolt 3 would deliver power to the laptop but the screen would remain black (and from the laptop side was like no screen was attached). After a bit of research I've noticed someone saying the same thing on apple forums and it turned out to be a defective monitor. B&H exchanged it, the process was smooth. The replacement monitor worked out of the box. Having the experience of an iMac but the portability of a MacBook Pro is great (although keep in mind there might be some delays when you plug it in for the laptop to recognize it, especially if you keep the lid closed).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pixel Burn In after 7 Months of Use I purchased this monitor in June'17, and in January '18 I have now seen some horrible Pixel Burn in on the top right corner. The image is always displaying the navigation/status/browser bar, and that is the part that can been burned in. I never experienced other issues with this monitor, but hopefully LG's warranty will replace/repair this unit. Otherwise it is a very functional and usable monitor for the price. I want to get a 2nd one for my set up, but waiting to see how LG upholds their warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New version The bad reviews were for the recalled version. The new version, sold at B&H, is rock-solid and has none of the problems listed below. I bought mine for a MBP (latest version) and it works perfect and it has a beautiful image - nothing on the market is close. Buy this monitor; you will not regret it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed out of the box I give it two stars because it is only one unit. You may have better luck. This unit would not show a display picture out of the box. Then from time to time would show a display for 10 to 15 seconds, then go blank again. Took the cable to Apple store so they could test it. Cable tested fine so the actual monitor is to blame. No sign of shipping damage. Using with a 2017 27 inch iMAC retina display.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BH SOLD AN OPEN BOX MONITOR Monitor arrived with manufacture seal broken. Screen had handprints and dust all over it. Ridiculous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good monitor so far, just losing faith in B&H I ordered a new one of these and B&H sent me an open boxed one instead. After pointing out their mistake (shortly after delivery), they offered me a $35 gift card for my trouble ( Although they did offer to replace it, I didn't have the time to return it for a new one due to a work a deadline - so I kept it). Given the price of this monitor, and the 10's of thousands I spent at B&H in recent years, I thought it would have been more than a $35 gift card. Oh well, that didn't matter anyways. B&H told me last week they would send me the $35 gift card via email (it was supposed to arrive that day) and that never showed up either.I am tragically losing faith in B&H and need to find a better vendor for my purchases. Any suggestions? Oops, I should let you know that I purchased the LG Monitor to sit next to my "new" Imac Pro, which I also bought from B&H, and so far it is a perfect fit. Screen resolution works well with the Imac Pro. Excellent monitor for video/photo editing, and of course, watching 4/5K movies and videos. I am happy with the monitor even though I paid full price and got a used one. Note to B&H: keep your $35 gift certificate - Im not wasting any more of my time on this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monitor for the Mac Pro Im using this monitor with a 2013 Mac Pro. I know it's only displaying 4K, but it just works like a Apple monitor - user setting controlled by the Mac, has built-in speakers, mic and camera. And I'm ready for a future MacBook Pro or new Mac Pro using the full 5K resolution.
