Strix Scar Edition
The ROG Strix Scar Edition notebook is portable, powerful, and has a special carbon fiber design on the keyboard.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series Graphics Cards
NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 10-series graphics cards can deliver up to a 40% increase in performance over the previous generation. Not only are they powerful, they can deliver similar performance to their desktop counterparts with a slight performance difference. This changes mobile gaming, allowing you to max out your game's visuals settings so you can enjoy it at its best. Furthermore, this system is VR-ready so you can enjoy VR games and apps for a different take on computing.
120 Hz IPS Display
This notebook is equipped with a 120 Hz IPS display, which provides you with low lag, 100% sRGB coverage, and wide 178° viewing angles. With these features combined, you'll be able to spot your enemies easily and enjoy a smoother gaming experience.
Backlit Keyboard
The ROG Strix Scar Edition is built with a RGB-backlit keyboard with four customizable zones. It also has four extra hotkeys, support for N-key rollover, and 0.25mm-deep curved keycaps for a comfortable typing experience.
Thumping Audio

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    ASUS GL703VM-DB74 Reviews

17.3- Republic of Gamers Strix Scar Edition Laptop is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wouldn't recommend Straight out of the box my GPC fan made a clicking noise. Researched it, I believe its the fan hitting one of the wires considering it changes when you rotate the computer, and videos I researched had the same issues. I can fix it when I get in the mood, I attempted to call ASUS and see what could be done but I couldn't understand their representatives and I would rather take a chance on breaking my laptop fixing it myself rather than deal with the hassle of trying to go through their customer service. I cant hear it through my headphones anyways. The fans are very loud whilst gaming may I add, it runs games very well and is a beautiful laptop other than that, if i had it to do over i wouldn't have gotten this laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for my needs... I'd say my experience was better than the other reviewer's. No issues out of the box. Easy to configure. Some may think the RGBs are gimmicky, but I like the aesthetic. Keyboard is a bit soft, but was easy to get used to. Great display. I would have liked G-Sync for the price, but the lack of that doesn't take away from the experience, imo. Runs every game I've played at very high-ultra settings with no frame-rate issues. My main complaint would be that the fans--while pretty quiet when idle--can get pretty loud under load. Also, the 'hybrid' drive could be better...I'll almost certainly wind up replacing that with a 2.5" SSD. Overall, very happy with the laptop. Meets all of my portable gaming expectations and general laptop needs (school, work, etc.), and will absolutely tie me over until I decide to build a gaming desktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gaming laptop If you need something portable and don't need the most powerful graphics card this is a great laptop.

What brand is the nvme ssd?
    Asked by: Haziq
ASUS does not use one specific brand of SSD and is dependent on availability. Unfortunately there is no way to know which specific drive is in the computer without opening it up.

is this laptop has a carbon fiber design? because nothing shows in picture you showed
    Asked by: leonard n.
The picture provided is actually of the GL503/703VD, and not of this laptop. If you wanna see how it kinda looks like, checkout the GL503VS model that B&H sells. Its basically the same as this laptop

TN or IPS display? All the websites I checked list the 5ms display as TN, but it says IPS here.
    Asked by: Karthi S.
I would guess TN due to price; and it's intended for gaming with higher refresh rates provided by TN vs. the cost and slower refresh rates of IPS. It's also not a graphics workstation like a photo editor would require for highly accurate color reproduction using Photoshop or other. If it really matters, contact ASUS directly; they have a very responsive chat function on their support page you can use to speak to a human and get an answer. Best wishes.
