Rycote Softie-Lite Overview

The Softie-Lite 0.74" Slip-On Fur Screen from Rycote is designed to complement short shotgun mics from Sennheiser, Schoeps, DPA, and Sanken. The fur-covered screen allows for faster booming indoors, compared to a standard foam windscreen.

It is suitable for outdoor applications in very light winds and can be used for transitions such as indoors to outdoors. The Softie-Lite 0.74" fits DPA 4017B, DPA 4017C, Sanken CS-1e, and Sennheiser MKH 8060 shotgun microphones.

The Softie-Lite is a Rycote slip-on fur-covered screen, designed to complement specific short shotgun mics.

I didn't need a big blimp but did need some protection for light outdoor production and indoor use. I didn't notice any handling noise (but it was a static shoot) and it just looks cool! Make sure you buy the right size for your intended microphone.

I think this unit is best used indoors or in very low wind conditions, works great, but in strong wind outdoors there are better units available. As always, great construction and materials used.

Would this work for a Sanken CS M1 mic? I've seen the CS-M1 used with the shockmount alone.
