Lowepro 170 AW II Reviews

The first version of this bug was better

This is my second Lowepro Nova 170 AW bug. The first version was bought about 12 years ago and was my camera bug for everyday use. The new version with II designator in the product name has some modifications compared to the original model. And these modifications are not making it better. I would say just opposite. Here is the list: 1. the rain cover is two times smaller and now protects only top and front side of the bug. The old one wrapped around the whole bug body 2. the Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Tripod Plate attached to the camera catches the slot added to the main compartment every time I am putting the camera into the bug. The old bug did not have this slot and camera went into the bug smoothly. 3. The old bug had two Velcro pockets for SD cards. The new one has one with the elastic overlapping cover which is difficult (almost impossible) to open with one hand 4. The old bug had Velcro pads about 4 inches wide in the main compartment providing flexibility where to put the dividers and better support for them. The new one has narrow Velcro stipes at the bottom and the top limiting the heights where the dividers can be placed. I doubt the savings from these modifications can justify the degradation in functionality and convenience of use.

Well-designed & well-built travel bag

Fits my Sony RX10 MIV with a Blackstrap camera strap perfectly. I don't worry about dropping it. Room for batteries, charger, cords & cleaning supplies. Easy on the shoulder. It's been knocked about in Costa Rica, rolled about in my pickup truck & still looks new. I don't write many reviews, but I took the time to write this one because this bag is a fine item.

Great Bag!

I bought a LowePro backpack to lug my Mamiya RB67 rig hither and yon, always impressed by it's quality and utility. Went digital (kicking and screaming) this year with a Quattro DP2; sold the Brick, bought this bag. Roomy enough for a couple Quattros if needed and all the trimmings and well -designed with enough pockets to be practical, but not beyond the pale. Tough fabric and even has a rain pouch! Reasonably priced to boot, nothing to complain about (OK, maybe it would be nicer if it came in Desert Tan, but heck...).

I use this for my Fuji X100 kit. It holds camera (w.hood attached) as well as the Fuji screw-on wide-adapter and Fuji screw-on tele-adapter. I also carry a spare battery and charger in here. It holds everything comfortably, but is still small enough to be manageable.

Great Bag

I was searching a long time for a day bag that would be the right size, Not to big and not to small. A bag to protect the camera in the car or while not using it during the day. This bag meet my needs perfectly. It can fit a Canon 6D mark II an additional 75-300 Zoom lens and a flash all comfortably without stretching the bag. There is even a divider for the camera compartment to securely hold the camera when connected to a shorter lens. All leashes can be disconnected so there is nothing lagging from the bag. It comes with many pockets and storage compartments so every thing has its place and there is no need to store numerous items together . There is the added benefit of a rain cover, a secure pocket and it can be attached to a suit case. There fabric and zippers are high quality. In summation a great bag for a DSLR

Great Camera Bag - but Measure First

This larger 170 model bag is just big enough for a bulky Canon R5 and fat zoom lens - not much more than that. Great if that is all you are looking for. Great extra pockets for small items

Repurchased 10 plus years later and it's improved

I purchased a new camera for my wife and without realizing went through all the reviews and picked the same one I've been using for a long time. The bag can carry camera, extra lens, and a accessories. Lowepro knows how to design a good bag and this is one of a few products we have from this company. The only bad part of this was that it was back ordered for 2 months which didn't make us happy. I hope they have filled the pipeline for future orders.

Does this bag have a trolley sleeve on its back?

Does this bag have a trolley sleeve on its back?
Asked by: Shmuel
Yes, at least the bag that I have does. The zipper on the back of the bag has nothing to do with the trolly sleeve. The zipper is attached to a very thin storage pocket. The trolley sleeve is snug to the back and is difficult to see at a glance. The top opening is approximately 1/16 of an inch below the zipper. The bottom opening of the sleeve is approximately 1/2 inch above the bottom of the bag.
