I'm having awful feedback whenever I turn these on and plug in the RCA cables to the back of the speaker (the 3.5 mm end). Even without the RCA cable plugged into anything like my Topping A90 amp, it still creates the feedback noise. I've tried multiple cables now after this happened with the cables Genelec supplied, and it keeps happening no matter what. However, it stops once I remove the RCA cable from the back of the speaker. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need a different cable? Any ideas?
Asked by: Chris
It's a steady hum whenever it's powered on and the RCA cable is plugged into the back. If I plug in the other end of the RCA cable to anything else (my Topping amp, my other audio interfaces, etc.) the hum gets much louder. The RCA cable also seems to not fit the RCA input on the G1 or I have to use a tremendous amount of force to get the plug to even go halfway into the port.

Hi! I love these speakers. They are beautiful and they produce wonderful sound! ...Until I moved them... I used the same mogami gold cables I had when they were on my desk and wall mounted them (using genelec wall mounts) high up almost near the ceiling inside my vocal booth. But now certain bass frequencies are way over pronounced in my booth and I'm experiencing a boomy bass in the lower frequencies that I can't clear up. I know my speakers need to be calibrated in this new configuration, but I'm not sure what to do or what to buy. Can anyone help? Is there software? Is the GLM kit compatible with this model? An audiobook narrator in Atlanta would love your expertise. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your response! I have a Studiobricks VO edition booth and it came with a bass trap and a host of other soundproofing specs, but maybe I need to add more in the corners now that I've raised the height of my speakers. I'll give this a try. Thanks!

Can a headphone output safely be used as a source? I believe it can particularly with 10 dB attenuation, but there is caution not to use a power amplifier as source.
Asked by: Jerome
Yes you can use a headphone output as a source. A headphone output is not the same as the speaker output on an amplifier. The speaker output on an amplifier would be used with a passive speaker or passive monitor, not an active monitor like the Genelec G One.

What cables would you need to run two as a stereo pair out of a computer 3.5mm socket?
Asked by: Patrick
The Genelec G One 2-Way Powered Bookshelf Speaker (Raw Aluminum, Single), B&H # GEG1BRW, can be connected as a stereo pair to the 3.5mm headphone output of a computer using a 3.5mm to Dual RCA cable, such as the Kopul 1/8" Stereo Mini to Dual RCA Y-Cable - 6' (1.8 m), B&H # KOSMYCM2RM06.
