Polsen MO-IDL1 Overview

  • 1Description

The Polsen MO-IDL1 is a lavalier condenser microphone with a DSLR/smartphone switch designed to deliver accurate speech capture for podcasting, vlogging, video and television production, interviews, and public address. Its electret condenser element produces a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, which is honed to complement the sound of the human voice. The omnidirectional polar pattern ensures responsive sound pick-up from all directions and avoid the bass boost caused by proximity effect.

An in-line switch enables the MO-IDL1 to be easily compatible with DSLRs, camcorders, PCs, and mobile devices. Affix the supplied windscreen to reduce wind noise, breath noise, and plosives. With an attached microphone cable nearly 20' long, the mic allows you to maintain a close-up position while pulling your video capture device back for long-distance shots.

The included 1/4" TS adapter facilitates proper connectivity to an unbalanced mic input, as commonly found on portable PA systems. Use the tie clip to attach the mic to your subject's clothing; lapels and collars are commonly used. For convenience in storage and transport, the MO-IDL1 comes with a carry pouch.

Vocal-Tailored Frequency Response
The electret condenser capsule's wide frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz is customized to complement the human voice. Whether recording in the field or working with an audience indoors, the tone and dynamic range of the MO-IDL1 yield an accurate and natural sound.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
By utilizing an omnidirectional polar pattern, the MO-IDL1 is able to capture sound from all around it. Its 360° responsiveness maximizes consistency in volume even when the subject turns away from the mic. It also eliminates the proximity effect that can occur when the mic gets too close to the talent.
Function Switch
A clearly labeled in-line switch allows you to switch modes. In Camera/On position, the microphone will work with any device using a 3.5mm TRS plug, ensuring compatibility with DSLRs, camcorders, and computers, and the included battery powers the microphone. Alternatively, in Phone/Off position, the mic will work with 3.5mm TRRS plugs found on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, and is operational via power from your smartphone.
Long Attached Cable
The microphone's attached cable is nearly 20' long, allowing sufficient slack for placing the mic up close while your camera or smartphone is kept at a distance.
Tie Clip & Foam Windscreen
Use the supplied tie clip to securely and inconspicuously attach the mic to clothing for proper on-camera appearances. Handily reduce problematic wind noise and plosives by fitting the included foam windscreen atop the mic capsule.

    Polsen MO-IDL1 Reviews

MO-IDL1 Lavalier Condenser Microphone with DSLR/Smartphone Switch is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the super long cord! I am just getting in to making iMovies for work and struggled using one with a 6' cord. This is a very reasonably priced microphone with a long cord - longer than you will likely need! It comes with an extra battery which is nice. I did have to flip the battery that comes in it around, so it would work. I assume it comes like that so that it doesn't drain the battery before it is used. I would recommend this product and thanks for the quick shipping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, sounds great This is a cool product. I got it to work on my GoPro, but ended up using it on my phone and camera. The cord is really long. Most of the time it turns to spaghetti, so I keep it rolled on a spool which seems to solve the problem. My big hope was that it would not crackle and pop in the wind since that is the huge big problem in West Texas. I was not disappointed. Works well with my D-850 also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I have the dual version and later found this single version. If you need two mics get the dual. I do not always need the dual capabilities so I did not like that I always had to have both mics active. This solves that for me. At the same levels the single mic has a slight advantage in sound quality too. That's to be expected as they are splitting the signal with the dual system. I have wireless systems but this is great for anyone looking for an inexpensive quick solution for your mobile device or camera. If your filming yourself or shooting a interview this will work out nicely. The cords on both versions are super long. The only thing that I didn't like about this one is that the included battery was dead. Luckily both versions comes with a spare.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad.. Cheap Lav Mic good for a pinch nothing amazing but is decent enough. Could use a small tone boost. Crisp sound when recording in close proximity. No popping problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great to have a long cord finally Nicely constructed. Wow, I love the long cord. Comes with a spare battery - nice surprise. Hope I dont have to change it soon, however, as it sits in a funny spot inside the battery/switch capsule. Ive used it once. Sounds good, and a bit louder than my other lav mic. I bought two, so well see how that work for future projects, but you really cant go wrong with the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option for vlogging I looked at more expensive wireless systems before realizing that this wired lavalier mic was all I needed to get started with vlogging.  Im using this with my Canon 5D Mark IV.  The audio quality is great. It is very simple and easy to use.  The cord is more than long enough for vlogging distances.  Overall I am very happy with this little mic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option Nice for the price and really convenient. This one has a little bit better audio quality compared to the dual version but if you need the dual mics get that one. If not this is the way to go for a simple and quick set up
