Steadicam AIR-25 overview

  • 1Description

Steadicam continues to innovate. What's special about the Steadicam AIR 25 Monopod is that to adjust its height you simply step on a foot pedal located on the bottom. This gives the flexibility to adjust on the spot whenever you recognize an opportunity to capture a lower or higher angle or even continuously adjust back-and-forth between the two. This is great for when capturing something like a dance performance, wildlife, sporting events or other fast-paced motion. When you push the pedal, it simultaneously holds the monopod secure on the ground while allowing you to adjust the height.

Because of their compact size and ability to be moved in all directions — including pushing in — while providing genuine stability, monopods are considered very useful camera supports in run-and-gun productions, including weddings, fashion shows, and other events. What the Steadicam AIR 25 does with the push pedal is to add an element that allows you to take advantage of nearly all opportunities that present themselves.

Made of carbon fiber, the Steadicam AIR 25 is very lightweight, at just 3.5 lb, adding even more to its versatility. And it offers a high weight capacity of 25 lb — so you can mount full-size, fully-loaded cine cameras as well as super long lenses.

    Steadicam AIR-25 reviews

AIR 25 Monopod is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So quick! Simple but extremely effective in its features I own the Sigma 300-800mm and have always had a monopod at my side given the size and weight of the lens & camera, when I saw this at CES it was a done deal for me. The great thing about this product is the simplicity in its function and what it offers through the gas spring pedal. The slightly over sized foot helps in uneven and soft ground conditions. It’s sligtly taller when collapsed than the average monopod but I was still able to travel with it in the overhead bins on a local domestic flight. You will find it operates very smooth if you use it with a maximum weight setup, although this is the 25lb max, my setup is 18lbs and it’s a smooth as butter. The trick with adjustment is to position the pedal right by your foot when you are kneeling so you can quickly press it as you stand up which gives you less than a 2 sec adjustment time. All in all, a wise investment and one you won’t be dissapointed in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy and a huge time saver Why hasnt anyone thought of this before? Such a simple idea, kudos to whoever came up with this because it's brilliant! Make height changes in 2 seconds! Up and down are both smooth, the monopod spins on its foot. Great design, how did I survive previously without it?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer I'm a wedding photographer who occasionally dabbles in video. I hate using monopods for the simple fact that if you need to adjust your height you have untwist or unlock knobs and then lock them again. I just needed a faster solution because of how fast a moment can unfold on a wedding day. When I first saw the Air promo I immediately knew I had to have it. It gave me incredible versatility when shooting. I can go kneeling to standing by just pressing the foot pedal down. Where has this been my whole life? It is working great so far and I have little to no complaints. It will also be great for stabilizing my long lenses when I take photos of my daughters soccer games. I haven't tried this yet but I am really excited to give it a go.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth $500! Excessive pressure required to lower the Steadicam from its fully extended height. Only one of the 3 sections of the monopod are gas pressured. Still need to manually twist knob to lower to a height suitable for kneeling, and the whole objective was not to have to do that anymore. After setting the height, the Steadicam gradually lowers, so need to adjust it frequently. Feels much heavier than the Manfrotto carbon-fibre monopod I had previously. The total length barely fits inside my Pelican Air 1615 case.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not ready for production. Don't be a beta tester! There is not 1 good thing I can say about this monopod. Its difficult to use, makes noise when moving, and the part that is supposed to move is jumpy and sticks. This monopod is not ready to sold. I hate when companies put out a product that's not ready for real use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! The Steadicam Air is definitely a must have! I can't believe how easy it is to use. I can vouch that it has stepped my photography game up a few notches, I recommend!
