Steadicam AIR-25 Reviews

I spoke to soon

Previous review stated that it's a handy little tool. It was. The first time. The second time, I had to fight to get the step to switch positions. It was way too much struggle to get the gas part to work. Now it works again, but I can't switch it back into locking position. I don't understand what the problem is, but I expect better from the steadicam name.

Not for the small potatoes

This thing is ingenious! However, I bought this because it was in the deal zone and cheaper than the air 15. So I knew that the number referred to it's maximum payload. What I didn't realize is that there is a minimum payload! My equipment isn't heavy enough to compress the air powered shaft. I have to muscle it down to lower the height. This should probably be stated somewhere. I even watched a demo video covering all the features and they didn't say anything about it. So it's difficult to use with the Sony A7 iv. But it's not quite as bad with my DJI Ronin 4d which is around 12 lbs. But I imagine it would work like a dream with anything over 15 lbs. I might get an AIR 15 just to see the difference.

Solid, Will hold a heavy load, BUT...

A rugged piece of kit, but not lightweight at all. Being an older Gent I found it quite difficult to recompress the shaft even with about a 4Kg payload, i had to stand and lean down on it. Definitely has it's uses, but not for me. The physical difficulty for me (at 77yrs of Age) caused me to return it. A Younger mans piece of gear.

Like many photographers, I have a love hate relationship with monopods and tripods. I needed something to help me stabilize my Phaseone system when walking and searching for views to capture. Holding heavy medium format gear steady enough is difficult. I came across the steadycam monopod on B&H's deal of the day. The hydraulic height adjustment makes a huge difference and works perfectly and save me time saving hundreds of dollars was greatly appreciated. So far so good!

I like that it helps me keep my camera steady, but the rubber foot is stiffer than I would like. Obviously this is because it's made of rubber and it will like eventually loosen up for better movement. All in all, this is a convenient tool to have when a tripod is too cumbersome to use.

How well will this work with a Zhiyun - Crane M2 3-Axis Gimbal for overhead video?
Asked by: Alan
The Steadicam AIR 25 Monopod has a maximum height of 62.5", so it wouldn't go very far overhead. It has enough load capacity to support the Crane M2 and a camera, though.

Yes, they sell a tripod base that screws into the bottom and replaces the rubber foot. The above two responses are incorrect.

how loud is the air sound coming in and out? If the air valve gets broken/stuck is it repairable ? and how do i get it fixed?
Asked by: Janos
There is an audible hiss produced by the Steadicam Air 25. Due to their patented design, we believe the item is likely repairable, but through the manufacturer (Steadicam/Tiffen).
