The WS X299 Sage LGA 2066 CEB Motherboard from ASUS blends GPU performance with up to Quad-SLI support, server-grade validation, and comprehensive cooling options to deliver system builds for training neural networks and crunching through other scalable compute loads. Dual PLX chips extend the number of PCIe lanes to provide additional expansion slots, giving you connectivity options to configure your system with the tools you need to get your job done. The WS X299 Sage supports the LGA 2066 socket, Intel X299 chipset, and is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit). Also supported is USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C, each of which can achieve data transfer rates of up to 10 Gb/s, plus dual U.2 and M.2 slots that reach speeds of up to 32 Gb/s.
The CEB form factor of the WS X299 Sage can support quad-channel 4200 (OC), 4133 (OC), 4000 (OC), 3600 (OC), 2666, 2400, and 2133 MHz non-ECC, unbuffered memory. When equipped with an Intel Core X-Series processor with six or more cores, up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM is supported over eight 288-pin DIMM slots, as compared to quad-core processors that support 64GB of DDR4 RAM over four 288-pin DIMM slots.
The WS X299 Sage has a total of eight SATA III 6 Gb/s connectors, two M.2 Socket 3 slots that support PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs (both support 2242/2260/2280 form factors, while one also supports 22110), and two U.2 connectors. There is also 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C port, 1 x USB 3.1 Type-A port, 6 x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and 4 x USB 2.0 Type-A ports, all located at the rear, as well as 1 x USB 3.0 header at mid-board that supports 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A ports and one front panel USB 3.1 connector. Other features include Intel I210-AT and I219-LM Gigabit LAN controllers and 7 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots.
The WS X299 Sage does not support integrated graphics, meaning that users will need to purchase a compatible and dedicated GPU of their choice. Once that GPU is installed, multi-GPU output is supported for NVIDIA 4-Way SLI and AMD 4-Way CrossFireX technologies.
Using the Realtek ALC S1220A 7.1-channel HD audio codec, the WS X299 Sage can support analog and digital audio using the integrated 3.5mm and S/PDIF jacks. Included is an ASUS Q-Shield, a vertical M.2 bracket set, a COM port cable, eight SATA III 6 Gb/s cables, M.2 screws, an MOS cooling kit with a fan bracket and a 40 x 40mm fan, a 3-way SLI bridge, a 4-way SLI bridge, an SLI HB bridge, (2-Way-M), and a Q-connector. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.
