Lightweight, easy to use, and powered by widely available batteries, the 300-lumen Remix LED Headlamp from Princeton Tec lights your way during after-dark outdoor activity or around the house. Lighting options include a Maxbright LED spot beam and a red flood beam powered by three Ultralight LEDs. The red flood beam illuminates tasks, but also helps preserve your night-adjusted vision.

The single push-button switch on the top of the lamp housing toggles between spot and flood and offers high and low output levels. Runtimes on a fresh set of three AAA batteries are 28 hours on spot high, 58 hours on spot low, 61 hours on flood high and 150 hours on flood low. Princeton Tec Remix 300 Reviews

Great headlamp to save night vision

I chose this model because it looks similar to my beloved lightweight and compact Princeton Tec Fred Headlamp that always turns red first which lasts for a year or two with brief but regular use. But this Remix model is brighter, although red is not so bright to become an issue. I use these lights when I get up and move around house at night, when doing observational astronomy or astrophotography. This light seems great, too. There are minor cons that want me to take half star off (but round to 5). The battery cover is fairly tight (not loose) and as I broken one previously, I avoid using either rechargeable or alkaline batteries (which leaked one time, ruining the headlamp). I use lithium AAA batteries that last longer (super long for red which all I need) and don't leak. This Remix light is a slightly larger and heavier than Princeton Tec Fred Headlamp, but not by much. Recommended!

Can you turn the red LED on and off without any risk of cycling through the white LEDs? Asking because in night photography I’ll catch a lot of grief from the rest of the group if my white light comes on.

Yes – red can be used without ever switching to white. First press will activate low red. Next press immediately after will activate high red. Next press is off. White low requires a full 1-second-press-and-hold to “skip” over the red mode. Next press immediately after will activate white high. Next press is off.
