Cokin CA121 overview

  • 1Description

This Cokin A Series Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is designed for use with a Cokin A Series Filter Holder. It helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is useful for images which include defined horizon lines. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick.

  • Compatible with a Cokin A Series Filter Holder
  • Darkens bright areas of an image, such as skies, while leaving the remainder of the frame unaffected
  • Provides up to a 3-stop reduction of light in selective areas
  • Hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas
  • Useful for images which include defined horizon lines
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image
  • Constructed from optical resin (CR39) for clarity and durability

    Cokin CA121 reviews

    A Series Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes Cloudy Skies Come Alive If you live where it is cloudy a good part of the year or you need more contrast between objects and the sky, Cokin's graduated neutral density filter is a must. The filter accentuates clouds, useful especially when the sky is totally overcast. The one reason I cannot give the Cokin filter 5 stars is the fact that the manufacturer puts a sleeve over the filter case with the ends open in such a fashion that the two halves of the case slip right out of the sleeve. I had to order two replacement filters because the original and first replacement came shipped in a large bag with the filter floating around loosely inside by the time it got to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for landscapes! I use the products when photographing landscapes to greatly improve the exposure balance between earth and sky. The gradation ensure that it easy to correctly expose the land without blowing-out the sky - greatly improving the look of the shot far better than post processing in Lightroom or Photoshop can. Well worth the slight extra effort invovlved!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Filter As soon as I received this filter I went out and used it. I've been working on shooting the storms here in South Florida and using the storms as the backdrop for some ominous looking photos of the older construction in the area. The filter gave me the exact effect I was looking for. It made the shots easier. It's a great filter to have in the bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Filter It darkened the sky nicely in my test shots. I could not detect any loss of image quality or sharpness caused by shooting through the filter. It made the sky appear to be a deeper blue and gave more contrast to the clouds. Cokin filters worked for me back in the Kodachrome era, and are still a viable choice in the digital age.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small wonder It's nice to have the ND grad in a small size now that I'm using a smaller diameter lens. Easy to pout in your pocket and carry with you- it's ready to darken that blown out sky! I don't use the frame, just hand-hold the filter and go light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cokin graduated ND filter I use this filter almost exclusively for landscape photography. I am thrilled with the results of this filter.
