The Raja softbox has a reflective silver interior and offers two removable fabric layers, an inner baffle, and a front diffuser. Using both parts will soften your light considerably and reduce your output while removing one diffuser can help increase contrast or make shadows harsher. The softbox also comes with a fabric grid that narrows the softbox's beam spread while maintaining a soft quality of light. A bag is provided so you can easily fit and transport your modifier.

As the headline says, this is very good if all you care about is price and you are just playing around. There is a lot to like if you aren't really a pro. The assembly is fantastic. No fighting and straining to put rods in a mount ring. Just pop it open and lock it in place and you are done. I have now used it on a pair of back to back shoots and it seems fairly well built. I have one older Phottix softbox that has held up to light but repeated use - so hoping this will too. If I keep using it.
During the shoots I placed this behind my subjects heads doing to create a solid white background. I had an older box I used for the same purpose, but after a few years of heavy use it has finally gone to the great softbox graveyard. I am using a 600 watt strobe that filled my old softbox perfectly. With this softbox, whether I use both baffles or just the outer baffle I get the same effect. There is a massive color shift/gradient at the edges. No pure white. This caused me a lot of extra work in Capture One and Photoshop to get the results I like and that translates to lost margins. I am planning on experimenting a bit and seeing if I can't find a way to make this issue go away. But for now - let's call it 3.5 stars and only used as a backup going forward.

No, regrettably at this time the manufacturer does not provide nor sell to us the front diffuser as a separate product for the Phottix Raja Rectangular Softbox with Grid (24 x 35") (B&H# PH82720). We can't recommend it (because it is not designed for the purpose), but we would imagine that some people would use an umbrella diffuser such as Interfit Translucent Parabolic Umbrella Diffuser (41") (B&H# INUP3DI) to cover the front of the softbox if the front diffuser were missing: https://bhpho.to/2Xl4lph

32x47" would be on the high side of what you would want to use with a speedlight but it can be done.

Does this softbox have a side zipper to facilitate opening the softbox and mounting it to a light? A comparable model, the Westcott Rapid Box Switch 3x4, has a side zipper that seems to allow you to open the softbox by putting your hand through the side zipper, rather than going through the front of the softbox -- thereby allowing you to leave the outer and inner diffusers on all the time.
