Kodak Scanza Reviews

Great Buy

The quality of the scans are very good. I was able to scan slides quickly, but 135 film strips took more time. The display image was very good. A great tool at a great price

I take better scans with a phone app .... Don't waste your money like I did. I'm tired of having no luck finding a decent scanner for my negatives and slides. Can't even save them on your computer. I'm truly disappointed

Really poor quality

I recently bought this scanner having in mind unbox my old Canon A1 film camera and start again to shoot B&W 35mm film. I shot 5 rolls film. I asked to the laboratory to develop the film and scan it with their own scanner, after I scanned the same film with this Kodak device observing an incredible difference between both copies. The results of this scanner is poor, no details, very narrow range of grays, in a few words, this scanner in a toy or very unprofessional device. If you are looking for an acceptable quality, I do not recommend this.

It does the job

I have a lot of negatives which i have had stored in proper sleeves. Any this is fast, when compared with Epson Artisan 730 and time saving. You can salvage your old negatives. And once converted to digital media, it opens up the world for you to edit them, enhance them in Photo Shop. You will be glad you did it. Because most of us have those old time memories of family. Bring it back to life. Our children have grown in digital world. They are not going to bother about the negatives . But once i have converted into digital media, i have been able to share these pictures with my children.

The output is positive in poor quality. Trying to improve to picture with lightroom program is very ineffective. Will not recommend it to anyone.

Very Satisfied with this product

My wife has 500 slides and about 200 rolls of 35mm film dating back to the 1960's. I was amazed that someone rated the device as bad and they could not clean the receptor. Totally wrong and the device comes with a cleaning brush. Scans of slides from 1960 are not what my Canon 6D MKII dishes out at 25 megapixels today, and some need a touch of sharpening in Photoshop, but the results for 60 year old film is acceptable. I also let Photoshop do some Auto Color and minimal sharpening when scanning film negatives. I cleaned the receptor and air dusted all the film negatives between rolls as working of the kitchen table seemed to get a lot of dust on the film and receptor. Once I did cleaning every roll I had no problem. I would recommend the product but you have to keep things clean and do a little Photoshop touch up to bring 1960 slides into the 2021's. All in all I am very happy with this inexpensive device.

Better than expected

I am very pleased with the scanner. Ease of use is 4 stars, quality of scan is 4 stars (for the price). I did not expect the quality to be so good considering the price point. I know there are higher resolution scanners with image improvement software, but this scanner did exactly what I was looking for. I am 3500 slides into a project of about 7500 slides for scanning. My only observation for concern, and it's not a scanner problem, is you need to frequently monitor the light screen for dust, it is not readily visible on the display if dust is showing up on the scan. Luckily there is a dust removal wand included with the scanner, but it is operator dependent to check for dust and remove it. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who needs to convert lots of slides, it takes about 15 seconds to get the slide out of the carousel and insert it into the scanner, the capture and saving of the image takes about 5 seconds on high resolution. Total directory size is about 14GB after 3500 slides.

Impressed

Not knowing what to expect, I was impressed with what this can do. It was simple to use. I ran 400, 50+ year old slides thru it in about 4 hours.

question

HelloNice to see the improvement on this type of scanners! This could be a great model.Could you answer is it able to save tiff format or only jpg. Which size jpg files are saved by mascine?Thank you.
Asked by: Zoltn S.
This is a quick, easy and thus simple machine. Therefore it outputs to only JPEG, no TIFF. You could convert to TIFF in your processing program if you wish. You are given a choice of 14Mp or an up-rezed interpolation of 22Mp. These resolutions are great for the web or prints up to 4 x 6 .

Yes the Giottos Rocket Blaster Dust-Removal Tool is a very good way to get rid of dust. Using the "Digital ICE" software, can sometimes remove information one may want to keep.

power assembly instructions ?
Asked by: Charlene
The device is powered through a USB port on the side of the unit. The "power assembly" such as it is, consists of a USB cable and an AC adapter. The large end of the USB cable fits into the AC adapter and the AC adapter is plugged into an AC outlet. The smaller fitting on the other end of the cable fits into the USB port, or opening, on the side of the scanner.

Is it possible to view the slides/negatives without scanning?
Asked by: Mary Beth
Yes - you can view both slides an negatives without scanning or even a SD card in the device. Just be aware that you do however still need to power the unit by supplied leads which gives you a variety of sources. It’s an excellent compact and lightweight device.

question

Hi, does a Kodak Scanza Digital Film Scanner able to use 220v or they able to power up by USB cable only? Thanks
Asked by: Mohamad Aidie H.
The AC power supply that comes with this is universal meaning it can take 110 to 220 VAC. You will need to order a plug adapter for it so you can connect to your electrical mains. You will find a suitable one on this page. https://bhpho.to/2mZZNRi
