The adapter allows the lens to shift 10mm in each direction and rotate 360°.The shift allows you to ameliorate the problems of convergence. This is very problematic when you shoot buildings and you point up, The buildings will look like they are falling over. However, by having the camera back parallel to the building but moving the lens in a shift, you get the buildings in frame and looking straight up and down. Trust me, building owners will buy those shots from you.
