Different size than ARRI dovetail

For some reason (to make more money), Tilta makes their dovetail plates a different size than the ARRI standard. Meaning all of their baseplates will only fit their dovetails. I hope this helps someone not have to waste their money like I did. Stay away from Tilta.

I naively thought that the tilta products would work with standard Arri dovetails, but of course, you have to buy tilta's 140$ copycat which is 1 cm less wide. How predictable.

It's a standard dovetail that works well with every tripod I've used it with. Also, it works as intended when sliding on Tilta compatible baseplates on many different Tilta camera cages. HOWEVER, it ONLY works for Tilta systems. How difficult would it be for Tilta to make this Arri-standard? It's a bit like Apple products being very exclusive, but Tilta has a lot less market share for camera accessories than Apple does for electronics. If you have a Tilta heavy rig, go for it. This will help you balance your camera on tripod for tilts and can be a good mounting solution. If you plan on expanding with other cameras or accessories, consider just purchasing a more expensive system.
