question

I have a 55mm lense which takes a 52mm filter ring. my question is, is the threading universal? my camera lense is a Nikon but they don't have lots of filters for it so I am looking at other brands. if its universal and I can use other brands that would be great. second time asking question as it didn't seem to add my question yesterday. website is glitching. thank you

Yes, the threading is universal. Always remember to step UP not DOWN to avoid vignetting.

question

I have a Nikon lense which takes the 52mm size screw in filters. the lense is a 55mm. so I am looking at 52mm filters and step up rings. the question is, are the threads on this ring compatible with the rings on my Nikon? are thread sizes the same brand to brand? is it universal like mini usb charging adaptors for cell phones. since Nikon doesn't make many filters etc for its lenses I keep seeing all these from different brands and am curious if they are compatible. my lense is 18-55mm and I would love to enhance fall colours. thank you.

Filter threads are standard. If you have a 55mm lens, you need to get a larger filter size, and use a step up ring from your lens to the filter. If you use a smaller 52mm filter on a 55mm lens, you will have a large round black border around your entire picture because of the vignetting.
