I purchase this filter main for taking astrophotography shots at night. If you go to the Hoya website you will find the Star Scape Filter (this is the same filter as the RA54 filter, but the packaging is different). The Hoya website explains the RA53 filter is the same as the Star Scape Filter. The Hoya packaging for the Star Scape filter is sold outside of the United States. I have not had a good night to test the filter for astrophotography yet, however I did use it photographing wild turkeys and the filter did make the red gobbler head stand out more. Good quality and would recommend this Hoya filter.

question

How would this work on orange and reddish sunsets? Thank You!!
Asked by: Sgt. Salvador M.
This filter will deepen the effects of colors in the orange and red section of the spectrum. Works well for autumn scenes but may sometimes be too intense for sunsets. Similar results can be achieved in post processing in Adobe Photoshop which also offers more control.
