shoddy design, but cheap

The rubber gasket tends to bunch up in the middle, triggering the eyepiece eye detector. Terribly frustrating oversight in design. At least it's cheap.

I broke my eyecup on my Z7 and was hoping the replacement was available and affordable. I found a replacement at B&H easily and affordable. Glad to have my Z7 back in shape!

Functional...but

The eyepiece is comfortable and as expected does its job in blocking out extraneous light well. However it can come off the camera inadvertently while you walk with the camera slung over your shoulder. I would like to see the camera/eyepiece have a locking feature like the D# bodies.

not satisfactory

This standard eyecup provides poor shade in bright sun and it's flimsy. It keeps coming loose at the bottom.

Very disappointed; poor overall design.

While this eyecup isn't uncomfortable against the brow, it is a perfect example of a rushed part otherwise. There is no secure lock-on for this component due to the design of the camera, so almost no pressure is needed to dislodge and pop it off. I lost mine when the bottom of my jacket evidently pressed against my camera as it hung on a sling at my side. I've been trying to order these from Nikon for well over six months now, and the NikonUSA site, as well as all retailer sites, consistently read as backordered while Customer Service claims they have them, and refuses to accept phone orders for them. I've had to switch to third party offerings and am happy to have done so, because they're less expensive to replace and work in exactly the same way as OEM. Shame on you, Nikon.

This is a true replacement when you mess up the eyecup you have. Nothing to get excited about.

My original Z7 eyecup is somewhere in Central America. It is nice to have the padding and protection back for the optical viewfinder.
