Leofoto MP-285C Reviews

Decent enough

I tried the big brother to this (mpq-404) and it was massive. Very solid but heavy and long even when collapsed. The 285 is considerably smaller and lighter. Collapsed it will fit vertically in a backpack or horizontally with only a couple inches of stick out past my waist. It's less stiff than the 404 but seems sturdy enough for my 150-600 lens or as a hiking stick. The bad: it's a couple inches too short fully extended for my 5'10 but it's a fair trade off for weight and packability. I have also found the twist locks to come undone a little too easily. Just bumping them can cause a section to get loose. I'm also not a fan of the strap which is not removable/replaceable.

Light & compact..........but perhaps too compact if over 6ft

Works for me. Nice compact travel monopod. Packs well in carry on. I'm 5ft8in and fully extended it is a tad short fully extended, but I'm keeping it. If you are 6ft or 182cm tall, you might want a model with a bit more reach.
