What is the benefit of using this remote when it is not wireless ?

Q&A says this remote works with the xt-3, but the 2.5mm Jack is too small for the ports on the camera. Any suggestions?
The user manual for my X-T50 says: "Use of an optional RRâ100 remote release requires a third-party adapter to convert the three-pin, Ï2.5 mm connector to a three-pin, Ï3.5 mm connector."
This message is below the Parts of the Camera section in the user manual, corresponding to the diagram of the Microphone/Remote release connector. It seems Fujifilm did not include this note for previous cameras, but they should work the same way.
