This Cokin P Series Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. It helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is useful for images which include defined horizon lines. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick.

  • Compatible with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder
  • Darkens bright areas of an image, such as skies, while leaving the remainder of the frame unaffected

    P Series Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have This filter is primarily for situations when you find the sky condition and the foreground vary dramatically in lighting. The filter allows you to correctly expose the foreground and not have the sky and background completely washed out. It is simple to use and renders great results. I still find situations when exposure compensation is necessary, but the shot wouldn't even be possible without this filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for landscape photography I purchased P121 because most of the landscape scenes have a skyline and what I need is to hold down the brightness of sky only. P121 does much better job especially for seascape. If you like wide angle lens and shoot sunrise/sunset frequently, this product is the must. I highly recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Decent Filter Its a decent filter for the prize. Does its job as intended. Filter looks extremely cheap, almost like a cheap widnow of a chinese made toy bus... but the box looks more expensive then the filter ... in fact the box is made of really good durable platsic material and looks elegent. I think Cokin needs to spend more money on the glass even if it means giving cheaper or no box. The filter definately looks rediculously cheap on my L glass but at the moment I am willing to spend only this much as I need to learn more about using filters correctly. Once I get good at it, I will definately buy better quality filters. I would recommend it only for those who have entry level lenses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid product overall A decent price for a useful filter. Appreciated the rectangular design over the circular filter types, as one can adjust the horizon line to any place, rather than having being forced to always frame the photo in the middle. Although the picture of the filter shows the line between the different elements even in the soft graduated model as surprisingly hard, I was surprised how soft the transition was when it was on the camera. There was not a noticeable line at all, which was welcome when the subject presents an uneven horizon line. Just make sure to use the manual mode on your camera when shooting with this filter, or your camera will try to compensate with an adjustment and render the effect useless in shutter priority mode, the aperture jumped from 3.5 without the filter to 22 with the filter to try to compensate, and so the effect was minimalistic. In conclusion, this product can save valuable highlight detail that might be blown-out otherwise and so if a valuable addition in certain circumstances.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multi-lens flexibility with one filter I've grown quite fond of the Cokin filters because of their flexbility with all of my lenses. This clears my bag of filter clutter and gives me what I need in the field. I prefer to use filters rather than using ND in Lightroom, because I want to make certain I don't blow out highlights I can't get back. This filter gives me the graduation I need and I can add more filters without vignetting. As with any other filter, scratching is an issue and I think Cokin is a bit more susceptible because they don't have a ring around them to take some of the punishment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very useful tool I use the product in areas where there is a large contrast in light between the top and the bottom. If I read on the dark areas, the light areas are often blown, so the graduated filter neutralizes the light somewhat.
