Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt-Shift Lens

Balancing a versatile wide-angle field of view with advanced perspective and focus control, the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II is a Canon L-series tilt-shift lens well-suited to architecture, interior, and landscape photography. Up to +/- 8.5° of tilt is possible, for focus control, and +/- 12mm of shift, to adjust perspective and composition. The tilt-shift mechanism can be rotated +/- 90° for applying movements in any direction, and a tilt-locking mechanism can be used while shooting for greater stability.

Complementing the operation of the lens, this L-series prime is also distinguished by its optical design that features four of Ultra-Low Dispersion elements to significantly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations as well as one aspherical element to minimize spherical aberrations and distortion. Individual elements also feature a Subwavelength Coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color neutrality.

Perspective control, tilt-shift lens affords +/- 12mm of shift and +/- 8.5° of tilt, and both types of movements can be applied independently, and parallel or perpendicular to one another. Additionally, the tilt and shift functions can be rotated +/- 90° for applying the movements in distinct directions.
Tilt-locking mechanism ensures the lens stays in place while shooting.
Four Ultra-Low Dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve greater clarity and color accuracy.
One aspherical element limits distortion and spherical aberrations to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering.
A Sub Wavelength Coating has been applied to individual elements to control lens flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.
Rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

Tiffen 82mm Circular Polarizing Filter

Tiffen 82mm Circular Polarizer Filters - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.

If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.

Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance
Can dramatically enhance a blue sky and make the clouds more prominent
Used best at right angle to the sun
Effective with cameras that use beam splitters in the path of the TTL light meter and with AF cameras

Sensei OC-CK Optics Care and Cleaning Kit

Keep your optical surfaces clean with the Sensei OC-CK Optics Care and Cleaning Kit. This kit contains a pack of lens tissues, a lens cleaning pen, bulb air blower, paint brush, lipstick brush, lens cleaning fluid, microfiber cleaning cloth, and see-through mesh travel case to put everything in. This kit can be used to clean a variety of different optics and glass. You can use the air bulb blower and any of the three supplied brushes to initially remove dust from the surface. Sensei recommends applying a small amount of the alcohol- and ammonia-free cleaning fluid directly to the lens tissue. Then, gently rub in small circular motions to remove stubborn smudges or fingerprints from the glass. For those more stubborn blemishes or smudges, the lens pen is very effective.

TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt-Shift Lens with Accessories Kit Reviews

Works well on Nikon Z7 II

After reviewing the capabilities of both the Nikon and Canon TS 24mm lenses, I decided to get the Canon TS lens with Fringer adapter. Aperture control through the Nikon camera works well. The lens works well and produces great photos. Especially, I like the ability of the "Super rotator", meaning that Tilt and Shift can be used at the same time at any constellation (rotation) to each other, what the Nikon 24mm TS lens can't do.

A great addition to my kit

It's so great to have a tilt shift when I'm photographing interiors. Expensive, and I hope to use it a lot, but it feels great to be able to catch something I can catch with a prime lens.

The fourth dimension in composure and sharpness.

First off, I have embraced the tilt and shift advantage for professional automotive photography and have actually become proficient at quick manual focus. I do own the entire range of Canons newest TS-E range lenses and each have been sharper than any other prime in I have owned in the past. I actually prefer these lenses for panning and use the focus beep to capture oncoming vehicles. 16,000 mp images from shifting invaluable for print. This particular lens has a line resolution rating that is remarkable and significantly outperforms the 11-24 4.0L. The variable perspective, color, and dynamic range is most notable. I like that I can use a polarize filter over the 11-24. Quality in the build is impressive and will not disappoint. Not just a lens for architecture, this lens will open up a whole new dimension fpr shooting just about any type of image. Definitely a top prime to own.

To tilt or not to tilt x 24mm

I recently purchased the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 II tilt shift lens for use with Fuji GFX 50S. to do architecture and landscape. I have been using the Cambo Actus with the GFX but the image circle of the Canon is better than the Cambo 25mm and also when using the Kipon adapter lens name and aperture meta data is written to the camera and image. I have just started to use this lens with the 24x36mm crop turned off. So I am using it 4:3 format full 50MB. the big question of course is it better deal with perspective in post or in camera. I prefer in camera having come from a film and view camera back ground. the answer is I do not yet know. I have compared the fuji G mount 23mm to the Canon and the fuji is better. A lot better, maybe not, but better. the one thing you cannot do in post is tilt. Tho, I guess you can focus stack. Bottom line, the Canon 24mm is beautifully made and works well with the Kipon adapter. Its size and weight is about the same as the G mount fuji 23mm. However, if Fuji comes out with a 30mm tilt shift and if equal to the 23mm, I'd prefer that. Still, this is a great lens and I expect to being using it for virtually all my architecture shoots.

All functions are working well with the fringer EF-NZ adapter. Additionally, due to the added distance between camera body and lens, there is no lens movement interference.

question

Is it normal for the tilt knob to have a little play in it before it actually bites and starts moving the elements? Tried tightening the screw and it still made no difference.
Asked by: Mark
The consensus here is that some play is normal. Now how much play is tolerable is a personal decision. If you have had the lens less than 30 days, you might consider an exchange. You may get one with less play or more. Please contact B&H Customer Service regarding any exchange or return.
