Bright Tangerine B4002.0002 Overview

The Left Field 15mm Baseplate from Bright Tangerine is comprised of a Left Field ARRI-standard dovetail plate with multiple 1/4"-20 accessory mounts, a baseplate core, and a 15mm LWS rod mount for RED DSMC2 cameras.

When secured in the baseplate core with the locking lever, the dovetail plate functions as a quick release plate. The baseplate connects to the base of your DSMC2 camera with two 3/8"-16 screws and the dovetail plate connects to a tripod, gimbal, or shoulder rig. The 15mm mount attaches to the baseplate core with two screws and locks onto 15mm LWS rods with locking levers.

Love this base plate. Pros: - Versatile - Compact - connects directly on to Arri dovetail Cons: - feels a bit light weight for heavier demands. If it was more robust feeling, it might inspire more confidence. But it is very low profile and compact, so the bad is the good. Highly recommended

Great Low Profile Base Plate for Dovetail Applications.

I use this with my Red Gemini and it works great for keeping a low profile in a low weight solution for dovetail applications going from tripod to gimbal to shoulder set ups. I use this with a 300mm (12 in) arri dovetail on the tripod to get good balance and it slides onto the wooden camera unified VCT wedge plate (B&H # WO223300) for shoulder work. This is the best solution out there for keeping the camera low on the shoulder or light on the tripod with lower center of gravity with 15mm lw rods. My only change would be the screws that come with it need to be lower profile to be even with the bottom of the camera. I switched those out for some WC low profile screws.

Thanks for answering. I also have the DSMC2 side handle. I need to ask then: Can you rotate the plate and reattach the rod clamps so that the dovetail locking clamp is on the opposite side of the side handle? In the first 2 images it appears as though it is on the media bay side. Or will the body then block the clamp?

We are not aware of this unit being able to be used in the opposite direction. You will need to attach it to the camera as shown.

No this will NOT work on DSMC 1 bodies the mounting heights are different.
