Thanks for answering. I also have the DSMC2 side handle. I need to ask then: Can you rotate the plate and reattach the rod clamps so that the dovetail locking clamp is on the opposite side of the side handle? In the first 2 images it appears as though it is on the media bay side. Or will the body then block the clamp?
We are not aware of this unit being able to be used in the opposite direction. You will need to attach it to the camera as shown.

No this will NOT work on DSMC 1 bodies the mounting heights are different.
