Chiaro Pro 62mm 98-UVATS UV Filter

The Pro 62mm 98-UVATS UV Filter is one of Chiaro’s highest-rated protective UV filters with 98% light transmission. It’s ideal for photographers of all levels who demand high-quality glass and other essential features for excellent image fidelity and construction.

To achieve 98% light transmission, Chiaro uses highly-polished optical glass, multi-coating, and additional advanced elements that improve the filter’s light transmission. A scratch-resistant coating minimizes scratching of the glass and helps assure that water, oil, dust, and fingerprints are removed with a gentle wipe. Its hard-anodized aluminum filter ring is designed to screw on and off effortlessly, and it is thin to prevent vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. Side knurling helps assure that you’ll have a firm grip when attaching or removing your filter.

Image quality is what matters most at Chiaro. The company has tested and combined many features and essentials to achieve superior image quality and the highest light transmission. To help take the confusion out of selecting a filter, Chiaro prominently displays the light transmission levels so that you can choose the perfect filter for your lens and photo session.

98% Light Transmission
Protecting your lens doesn't mean you have to lose optical quality. By using highly-polished optical glass and advanced coatings, Chiaro offers a 98% transmission rate, which is an excellent transmission rate for glass. And the company verifies the ratings with ISO certified lab testing.
Resistance Coating
The layers of advanced resistance coating on the filter are designed to resist moderate scratches, and allow you to easily clean your filter. Water beads up and rolls off your filter, and oil and fingerprints can come off with a gentle wipe. Dust and debris won't adhere to the filter and can be removed with a puff of air.
Polished Optical Glass
Glass that's polished to perfection is essential to achieve a high level of light transmission. The optical glass in this Chiaro filter is highly-polished for flatness that ensures excellent optical clarity.
Multi-Coating
Multi-coating enhances light transmission to the demanding level set for all Chiaro filters. It reduces unwanted internal reflections and ghosting that can compromise your images.
UV Protection
The filter blocks UV light and reduces the bluish cast of daylight that can affect color accuracy, especially at higher altitudes.
Hard Anodized Aluminum Construction
The process of hard anodizing toughens and strengthens the aluminum for a lightweight yet durable filter ring.
Slim Design
Measuring only 3.2mm, this filter is slim enough to use on wide-angle lenses without experiencing vignetting.
Top and Side Knurling
In addition to top knurling, Chiaro added side knurling to better grip the filter when you're attaching and removing it, or when you're stacking filters.
Secure Attachment
It takes two full turns to mount the filter on your lens. This feature will securely hold your Chiaro filter through the most demanding photo shoots.
Front Threads
The front threads on the filter allow you to stack filters by screwing them onto your Chiaro filter.

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.... Reviews

Digital Focus is weird

The lens has a digital focus ring that's all over the place. It is completely dependent on the speed at which you turn it, not the distance turned. If you quickly turn it a 1/16th of a turn if will focus to infinity, but if you turn slowly, it takes almost a full rotation of the focus wheel to get to infinity. If you work in a fast paced environment where you need to move quickly, this is not the lens for you.

Impressive

This lens is what I would expect from anything bearing the Leica name. It's fast, focusing is consistent, and it delivers sharp images. The feel is solid, with excellent haptics for the controls. It's not light, especially after a kit lens, but the weight is comfortable for anything but extended handheld use. Other reviews have commented that the color palette skews very slightly red: I cannot confirm that yet but first impressions are that is correct. This is easy to offset (or exaggerate, depending on your style) in-camera with color profiles. My one peeve is that the aperture narrows so quickly: by 20mm or so 4.0 is as wide as you can get. Bokeh from this lens is next to impossible. It's leaps and bounds above the kit lenses, though, and the OIS goes a long way toward offsetting the aperture shortcoming. I would recommend this for any MFT shooter.

Does the manufacturer recommend turning off the ...

Does the manufacturer recommend turning off the stabilizer if camera is mounted on a tripod? What about a monopod?
Asked by: dave
According to the lens' instruction manual under section C [Names and Functions of Components], under #4, it states "We recommend setting the O.I.S. switch to [OFF] when using a tripod." It also states under the Note section that "If you set the O.I.S. to [ON] when recording a motion picture, operating sounds may be recorded. If they become bothersome, we recommend setting the O.I.S. switch to [OFF] and mounting the camera on a tripod."

Hi. I would like to know if it is possible to control the focus setting with the Crane Plus setter mounted on panasonic gh5s. Thank you
Asked by: Silvio
The Crane Plus does not offer a way to control Focus, that is not a feature it has. However you should still be able to use a Panasonic Mirrorless Camera with this lens. It will be within the 5.5 Pound Load capacity of B&H # ZHCRANEPLUS.

question

Is the smooth aperture changes so there are no sudden jumps in exposure compatible with the GH4 ? I got it to work on my GH5 by setting auto-exposure mode and blocked ISO and Shutter Speed, but it doesn't seem to work on my GH4.
Asked by: Emeric C.
The Panasonic GH4 when using some of the newer lenses, works better in an "M", or "P" mode.
