Acratech 2212 Reviews

Nicely made, but I don't use it much, anymore

Every photographer's needs are different. I purchased this Quick Release Plate at the same time as an L-bracket for my Z5. It fits the foot of the FTZ Adapter quite nicely, and it also fits the foot of my vintage 50-300mm F4.5 AI lens. I used it at first, but find I now usually gravitate to the camera L-bracket for shorter lenses and a nodal rail with gimbal for long lenses. When mounted, it taps the camera body when detaching the FTZ Adapter from the camera body. For me, it has become my second or third mounting choice.

Excellent

Does this product allow you to mount the FTZ adapter on a gimble head, i.e., where using an f-mount telephoto lens that does not have its own tripod shoe?
Asked by: Ben
If the F-mount lens you own is a telephoto lens and designed for use with the FTZ lens adapter, then there is a possibility the Acratech Quick Release Plate for Nikon FTZ Adapter may work for your usage needs on a gimbal. However, this cannot be guaranteed as due to the close proximity of the FTZ lens mount adapter to the camera body, there may not be enough clearance from the between the camera and the gimbal arm. The foot or tripod collar on a telephoto lens is seated further up on the lens to center the balance of the camera/lens setup, and is usually narrower than where the FTZ mount sits on the camera. As such, you may have to try the setup on your specific camera/lens/FTZ mount/gimbal setup for compatibility testing.

I have an L bracket attached to my Z6 will the 2212 give me enough clearance to attach camera to my tripod without having to remove my L bracket?
Asked by: Millie
We made the FTZ adaptor tall enough to clear when our camera plates were on the camera. I cannot guarantee that the bracket you are using will clear, but it should. Unless they made the bracket with a thicker profile or did something unusual to change the bottom. If they did...well then they did not have the adaptor at the same time that they made their bracket.

What are the dimensions of this plate, and how far is the bolt from the lip?
Asked by: Haim
The Acratech Quick Release Plate for Nikon FTZ Adapter is approxemelty 2.3 x 2.2 x 1.1 inches. Acratech does not list the 1/4 inch thread length. But it is made for the FTZ lens adapter.
