Moment 130-001 Overview

  • 1Description

Get horizontal flares and a letterboxed look with the Anamorphic Lens from Moment. Anamorphic lenses operate by capturing a wider image than would normally be possible with standard optics. They accomplish this by horizontally squeezing or vertically stretching a wider image onto your phone's sensor. As this lens performs a squeeze of 1.33x, the horizontal field of view will increase by 33%, which gives videos an aspect ratio of 2.40:1, as compared to the spherical, or non-anamorphic ratio of 16:9 (1.78:1).

Moment built this lens using aerospace-grade metal and hand-polished glass. It will work on phones with dual lenses. Included is a hex tool, a microfiber bag, and a lens cap.

Please note that you will need a compatible phone case to use this lens. Also, this lens is only compatible with Moment's new lens mounting system and not their original lens mounting system.

General Features

You'll need a case to use this lens. Once you identify which device you'll be using the lens with, you're ready to find a compatible case. Moment has a compatibility tool that provides a list of phones that this lens works with. Once you've determined if your device is compatible, choose from Moment's Photo Case, Wallet Photo Case, Battery Photo Case, or look for the "Moment Lens Ready" badge on non-Moment cases. Once you have a case, attaching a lens is simple with a twist-and-lock design. Their lenses are interchangeable, so you can use them on multiple devices, provided you have a case for each device.
This lens features a re-designed mounting interface which is slightly larger, stronger, and easier to use. The larger diameter provides more surface area to make the attachment stronger. As such, this interface only works with Moment's new Photo Case and Battery Case, not the Original Photo Case.
Mounts over either lens on dual-lens phones, enabling your creativity.
The 1.33x anamorphic lens brings the organic look and character of 2:40:1 Cinemascope to Moment's mobile platform.
Made with aerospace-grade metal and the same hand-polished glass used for high-end 4K film lenses.
Twist-and-lock lens mount interface that is cross-compatible with Moment's Photo Cases, Battery Cases, and Wallet Cases.

    Moment 130-001 Reviews

Anamorphic Lens is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Build This fun little lens is compact and easy to use in the field. I recommend getting the Moment app. It helps you see a somewhat de-squeezed preview.  I shoot 4K  with a Samsung Note 9. To de-Squeeze in Adobe, Im creating a sequence that is 1.33x the size that im shooting. Then stretching the width only in the Effect Controls to 133. Leaving the height alone. Then for a normal export, Ill nest it into a standard sized sequence. Shooting and working in 4K, this nested sequence is normally at 80% scale. This is how you get the natural black bars. Id recommend doing any stabilization before you de-squeeze.  As for the build... Well, I did  forget to take it out of pocket before I sent it through the wash. It came out the other side filled with soapy water. After it dried in the oven at 250 degrees for 15 minutes, there were spots all over the lens from the laundry detergent. I soaked it in a zip-loc bag full of Windex and shook it like crazy. I did this twice and the next morning it was back to being clear. Tough little lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice lens but could be less expensive. After a few tests shooting with this lens  I was pleased with the purchase. I was not expecting there to be as much distortion but it is stated on the Moment website (Vintage Anamorphic barrel type distortion)....... Build quality is excellent, but still wish all Moment lenses came with a back lens cap! Could be better priced at $99.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing in every way. This lens is very light. I took with me to the national portrait gallery. I got amazing stills and video with it. The app is just as impressive. Your captures will be unique. It makes going some place new even more fun. Your phone is a great tool with the right lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hugh Quality Lens Great build, very sturdy lens. Gives great signature light flares and very high quality glass. For those interested, as with most Anamorphic lenses, you will need to de-squeeze the footage post process to look normal. But loving it so far.
