Viltrox Automatic Extension Tube Reviews

Economical and effective

I bought these to get better close ups of flora while unwilling to fork out $$$ for a macro lens. I use the 10mm tube with a 35mm prime lens. The camera has to be held close to the subject to focus but the results are excellent.

Doesn’t work

This Extension Tube set does not work on my 16-50 f. 2.8-4.8 LM WR lens on my X-T5. It does not allow Aperture control at all. Pretty useless then, isn’t it? The B&H description states that it works on Fuji equipment. I complained to B&H, reply was “I read that the auto focus functionality works on some but not all lens.” I was told I could return it, but I ask you - why should I have to go to the hassle of packing/returning an item that was misrepresented in the first place? I’ll just eat the $$ and reconsider doing business with B&H again (after many thousands of $$ in cameras/lenses/computer equipment spent with them in the past.) Additionally, the quality is pitiful. As they say-you get what you pay for. I’ll know not to buy any Viltrox lenses…

I have an Fisheye Opteka 6.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye for Canon, this extension work with Sony ZV E10?
Asked by: Renan
That lens is too wide. If you use an extension tube like this you won't be able to focus. Extension tubes are usually for lenses over 30mm in focal length or you may end up having the focus being behind the lens.

I am planning to get this set to use on the Nikon Z MC 105mm 2.8, not sure whether the focus point would be inside of the lens or not when I stack both the 12mm and the 24mm together?
Asked by: CALVIN JIAWEN
When using both the 12mm and 24mm extension tubes in the Viltrox Automatic Extension Tube Set for Nikon Z together, the magnification of your lens will increase, and it will allow you to focus closer than using the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Macro Lens by itself. However, it does not indicate the new minimum focus distance when using the extension tubes on the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Macro Lens.

Does this allow autofocusing and image stabilization with Canon EF-S lenses?
Asked by: Nicole
Most lenses will autofocus but it does not support lens image stabilization. And depending on the camera the AF might not function because of the light loss using extension tubes.

Can this be attached to the MC-20 teleconverter? i.e. Camera=MC-20=Viltrox = lens
Asked by: morgan
I would not recommend using the Viltrox Automatic Extension Tube Set for Micro Four Thirds on the Olympus MC-20 M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter. The Olympus MC-20 M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter is designed for use on specific Olympus M.Zuiko telephoto lenses to increase the lens' focal length, whereas the Viltrox extension tubes are designed to increase magnification for close-up photography, but causes you to lose focus at infinity. The two items are not typically used together, and Viltrox has not tested the use of their extension tube with the Olympus teleconverter.
